"Fantastic hotel/guest house personally operated by the hospitable owners. Maison de la Garenne is centrally located, offers wholesome breakfast, and my lovely room was clean and bright on the 2nd floor. I walked 20 minutes directly from the train station to the hotel and a 5 minute walk into the center of the village. I would be delighted to come back."

"The price/performance ratio is OK, but it is off-season, and the swimming pool and sauna can only be used for one and a half hours a day, which may be too little for some customers. In Europe, swimming pools may be called four-star. The ratings of European hotels are very mysterious. I have never seen a hotel that requires customers to take out the trash by themselves, change towels after staying for seven days, and clean the room after staying for seven days. This is a bad review! It is ok for apartment hotels to cook, but the hotel does not have food except for breakfast. In addition, it is far from the attractions. There is an industrial park next to it, and most of the customers are on business trips. In short, the above is unacceptable. If you don’t have a car, avoid it. Give it 4 stars at most, 4.5 stars is not worth it!"

"I have to say I was quite surprised when reading other guests’ comments mentioning that the rooms were spacious enough. In our case, it really felt like we had the smallest room in the hotel. To give an idea, when sitting in the bathroom, there was barely enough space between your knees and the door once it was closed. The hotel is very well positioned, just a few minutes’ walk from the historical centre of Vannes, which made it easy to explore everything on foot. The room was clean, which is always appreciated. I was surprised there was no air conditioning, a fan was provided, but during this extremely hot weather it’s simply not enough. Also, there were no small amenities like a kettle with tea and instant coffee, or a coffee machine, which most hotels now offer. The soundproofing was also minimal. Starting early in the morning, we could clearly hear the cleaning staff, other guests, and doors shutting loudly, which made it difficult to sleep in…especially on a weekend getaway when you want to rest. Overall, it’s a very basic hotel that works for a short stay if location is your top priority, but it lacks comfort features we’ve come to expect."

Mauvaise isolation phonique (bruit de la route et voisins du dessus), on nous attribué pour 4 nuits, un appartement au rez-de-chaussée alors que j'avais demandé un appartement à l'étage supérieur et 1 parking. Mes demandes n'avaient pas été lues. Heureusement un parking était disponible. Il y avait des appartements disponibles aux étages supérieurs et j'ai demandé un changement qui nous a été refusé au motif: pas de surclassement possible. Pour ces raisons, nous ne sommes pas satisfaits. Ce geste commercial n'aurait pas ruiné Best Western."

"Selected Kyriad Prestige Vannes Centre Palais Des Arts as it seemed good value, provided free parking and is easily accessible from the motorway. None of this disappointed us. Our check-in was uneventful and we were allocated a corner room, which provided plenty of space (not necessarily well utilised) - more than a standard one. Beds and linen were very comfortable, bathroom spacious and for once I appreciated the daily cleaning service as it was done properly. Breakfast at €18 pp I found a bit dear, as it was beautifully presented but basically a out of the box continental breakfast. Freshly squeezed orange juice was a highlight but coffee was disappointing. Location is great for arrival from the motorway. It is approximately 2+ km to the old town but there is a convenient bus service (5 from Point Argent stop) from the main road a few minutes walk away. You can pay by card the €1.50 fare (which is capped daily to €4.20 regardless how many single journeys you do, provided you use the same card!!!). Conveniently the bus goes close to the railway (S.N.C.F) station as well before heading to the old town, where the Port stop is in 10 minutes from the Point Argent. However the bus service stops shortly after 7 pm so you may end up walking - for me the walk back to the hotel took 30 minutes from the old town. All in all the hotel was clean and comfortable, recommended for a short stay in the area. However, staff seemed a little "unattached" from their jobs, which did not leave a 5* feeling - some more hospitality training required there."
