Royalton Grenada Honest review If you look at the reviews on this resort you may not want to book a holiday here, My wife and I had 2 weeks here in mid-November with 2 of our friends. The resort is in a wonderful setting and with beautiful beaches and has 3 swimming pools, 3 beach bars, although 2 of the pools and bars are together, one for the premium clientele the other for the regular clientele. The only problem that I found with the actual resort is the buffet restaurant is too small, not enough selection as you would get on other Caribbean resorts or even Mexico resorts, although the food is ok just not the large selection. If your thinking of travelling to this resort I would recommend not more than 7 days as there is only 3 al a carte restaurants with small menus so the food can be repetitive but again the food is ok, but be warned what’s on the menus may not be available all the time, none of these restaurants serve breakfast or lunch unless you’re in the premium block and then you can use the Italian restaurant for breakfast and that has wonderful views over the sea. If you do decide to have your holiday in this resort, take it with a pinch of salt, you may find that they run out of beer, tonic for your gin and even gin itself, and as mentioned the restaurants don’t always have what’s on the menu. When we were there, there was a few people moaning all the time, but what I made of them was that the were the type of people that moan all the time even if everything is perfect, what saddened me was the were complaining to the waiters and waitress’s and none of the problems were of the staffs doing, we even saw a waitress in tears through a guy complaining and moaning all the time, and I overheard this guy complaining that it was too hot on the beach, what do you expect in the Caribbean so it just show what some people are like, now we made friends with a lot of people there and we had a laugh at the small problems the resort had but everyone said they had a great time, and overall loved the resort. The staff I’ve been to Mexico and other Caribbean islands on many occasions but I found that the staff here were so friendly and helpful and we made friends with a lot of the staff, from the entertainment team we Had George, Malcolm, Danielle and loads more sorry I can’t remember all of their names, the bar staff had Lisa, Denan and again I can’t Remember all the names, but I can guarantee that they will look after you. If you read this review to end Thank you, this was written as honestly as possible, yes there are small problems with the resort but remember a holiday is only as good as you make it. Alan McRae
We really enjoyed our stay at Sandals Grenada. This was our third Sandals, with the others being Le Toc and Barbados. For us I think we liked Grenada and Barbados about equally the same, but for different reasons. For starters, travel to Grenada was great. Flights from JFK were very limited, but the Jetblue flights we took arrive early enough so you can enjoy the late afternoon of your first day and you can enjoy nearly a half day at the resort before having to go home. A big reason for this is that the resort is only three minutes away from the airport. That is no exaggeration, we timed it. But for being that close you rarely heard any airplane noise at the resort, which was great. The staff is one of the best parts of this resort. Everyone super friendly and helpful. English is the primary language of the island so no problems with language barriers. Maybe they were at lower capacity, but it seemed like it was not crowded at all. You still have to play the chair game if you want one of the really good beach or pool seats, but there were still plenty of seats available, even with umbrellas, no matter what time you went out there. Always plenty of towels available during the day, but by end of the day they were mostly gone. Rarely did we have to wait for a restaurant, the only exception was the French restaurant where we waited 25 minutes. But we spent that time watching a band and could have easily waited longer. The lower capacity might be why it felt like a much less social Sandals than the others we went to. For example, at Barbados we had people coming up and chatting with us constantly. At Grenada there was much less, especially by the beach pool. Also a lot less participation in things like volleyball. On the plus side, there was nobody running around drunk. The nightly entertainment was great. We especially liked the bands and the Sandals Live show with the drums that encouraged audience participation. The entertainment venue is down near the beach and it can get pretty loud down there, so if you retire early you might want to stay farther up from the beach. We stayed in the Pink Gin Oceanfront (room 1203) and some evenings we would just hang in the room with the patio door open and it was like you were sitting near the band. This was one of the safest resorts I have ever been to, or it at least felt super safe. It was surprising to me to see so many cell phones and tablets just sitting out in full view on chairs and tables. Even on the beach where there were a couple vendors wandering around. When we went offsite our tour guide said the crime rate on the island is super low. I will also say the vendors on the beach were no problem at all. It was really just one old guy, who mostly liked to just chit-chat, and an older woman who only occasionally walked up and down the beach. Saw one other guy one day but he too was really low pressure. As others have noted, the beach is small, but it's super clean (no seaweed washed up on th
We stayed at True Blue Bay for 5 nights. We would have stayed longer however, we were on to another resort on the island to experience more. I have some very fond memories and was more then pleased with the resort. We arrived and were greeted by smiling faces and happy front desk staff. Upon a smooth and quick check-in we were taken to our room which was immaculate. We stayed in the water front two level suite, more like a condo I would say. They have several pools, that were also clean and well attended. We never lacked for a place to hunker down, there was shade and sun spots. They did a happy hour of rum punch at one of the pools everyday. We loved this. The layout of the resort is awesome, nice walking piers, beautiful restaurant literally on the water, dive shop just around the bend, an awesome outdoor bar by the middle pool and although we didn't use any of the water sports equipment it was there and looked to be in great condition. They although you put dinners and drinks on your room which is super convenient. I also want to point out that they include breakfast. The breakfast was not only fresh and had an abundance of choices but they would do made to order eggs of any kind. My husband I think had an omelet everyday. There is also many drinks to choose from in the morning breakfast and one of our favorite things about this was a they would have a different hot tea out every morning. My husband and I tried all of them. Lovely touch. One last note, the staff at this resort take care of anything and everything you may need. Anytime we needed a taxi, a recommendation, directions, even rented us a car for the day, very accommodating. Now for the fun part, here are some staff members who went above and beyond for us, Brandt front desk, Sky, Hope thanks for the fun and rum punch, Christel super fun, Therisa and of course Kiana our omelet specialist. Thanks for making our first Grenada trip amazing and sharing your beautiful island with us. Hope to return again.
