My wife and I visited GHT for our honeymoon early July 2024. I will go through every detail but let me start by saying that the overall experience was delightful, no question about that (with a few hiccups, of course)... GHT is definitely a top-notch Hotel. That being said, do budget accordingly. * Airport to Hotel Transportation (arranged by the Hotel): Excellent! It took 1 hour and 15 minutes. Our driver Rocco was friendly, polite and very professional. The vehicle was extremely comfortable. For sure a bit expensive but the alternative was a 3 hour journey involving walking, train, bus and/or ferry. * Front Desk/Check-In Process: Quick and smooth. Staff very friendly BUT unfortunately there was no early check-in available (even though we were entitled to it because of Membership status, subject to availability). * Restaurant L'Escale: Wasn't thrilled. The Maitre d' was not very friendly when we showed up for lunch without a reservation and no room number (were were in limbo waiting for our room to be ready). View was beautiful but not different than La Terraza and T Bar. Food was good but not great. Tried to have a drink at the bar before our dinner reservations and turns out you can't seat AT THE BAR without ordering food. * Restaurant La Terraza Gualtiero Marchesi: Definitely the crown jewel. Service was impeccable, food was superb and the view was breathtaking. By no means cheap but top quality has a price. Our server Randy really made us feel at home. * Breakfast at La Terraza: The variety and quality of the food in the buffet made every morning a delightful experience. Staff were as friendly and efficient as the night before. Surprisingly there's a difference between the staff at La Terraza and the staff in the rest of the hotel in terms of professionalism and reliability. * Swimming Pool by the Lake: Maybe the most iconic sight of GHT. Pool is beautiful and certainly a joy to swim in. Service was terrible, to the point of non-existent. I had to get out of the pool twice to order the same drink at the bar. In the 2 hours we were there not once did a server come near us to ask if we needed anything. I understand bad service might be a one-time thing in some place, but places of this category can't afford to have those days. The blue paint of the pool would stick to any part of your body at contact so don't be surprised if your feet, knees, elbows or other parts of your body are blue. * Restaurant Da Giacomo al Lago: A nightmare!! Makes it twice as painful to know that my wife was really excited to try this place. Server was rude, pushy and arrogant. The whole time we were there all servers were catering to a large group (of non-guests of the Hotel) and moving tables and chairs to accomodate them while the rest of the people just sat, watched and waited. As La Terraza sets the standard for quality matched to high prices, Da Giacomo al Lago does the opposite. I would never go back there. * Housekeeping: Not at the level of Excellence a Hot
