The Stratford Hotel by Hoco Hotels Collection

There is no front desk staff at this location, however, email and text communication is very timely and very friendly. They were very responsive to our requests for changes to the breakfast, which was greatly appreciated. The hotel is very quiet and has a great location for walking to downtown or the Stratford Festival theaters and there is parking nearby for EV charging. Having said this, we paid just under $300 US (including taxes) per night for a room that was tiny (#10-make sure to get a different one if possible). It was so small that they had to situate the toilet close to a support pillar, meaning that you could not sit down on it without torquing to the right. Parking is an additional $20 per night but worth it considering that the city of Stratford takes their parking issues very seriously. We would not choose to stay at this location again.

Loved the efficient booking and their quick responses to my questions. Everything is digital and contactless, including check-in. It is located conveniently for walking around town. The room was clean and comfortable. The room could do with some decluttering as the extra hangers and tables make the room feel crowded. We could never get the TV to work as it would go into a loop when we entered our check out date. The breakfast provided was a banana, muffin and croissant.

We have stayed at this property for many years when making our annual Stratford "pilgrimage." Had a bit of angst when it changed ownership, but we wanted to give it a chance to meet the previous standards of hospitality. The new owners have significantly improved the guest experience between our stay last year in 2023, and this one in July 2024. The property remains very well taken care of, and the location is still unbeatable. When we had a problem (our fault!) with our room lock, someone came over to help us immediately. Attentive service and some thoughtful added amenities.

Both of our rooms here were lovely and comfortable. It is located in the heart of everything, which was extremely convenient on a rainy weekend. My daughter commented on how they thought of everything that could be needed and there were places to plug in devices right where you wanted them. It was super clean, and they even left us a yummy continental breakfast outside our door in the morning.

Difficult check in process to a room that might as well have been in the middle of the street given the level of street noise in the room. We were moved to the associated Windsor Hotel and got a quiet room that was furnished in a very spartan manner. Modern but not hip. The room at the Stratford Hotel had much more character and a gas fireplace. I would look further for another place.

This Heritage Property meets minimum standards; hot water, good water pressure and clean, but that's as far as I can go! The Deluxe Suite albeit with a separate living area has the most incredibly inconvenient layout I have ever seen in a guest space. With the Sofa bed open you are virtually trapped. As well, the sofa mattress isn't fit to sleep on and broke my back. Finally, the housekeeper has this quirky habit which so annoyed me. There are waste bins throughout and garbage bags supplied, but for some reason you're expected to put the bag in the bin. Something that would take a second becomes the guest's responsibility? Last words, ask for a room facing the courtyard Erie St. has traffic noise all night and you'll be much happier!

We had a room facing Erie St, the main road into town.. We knew were in trouble when there was complimentary ear plugs on the night table. This room had way too big of furniture for the space. We had to move the bed closer to the wall to walk between the bed and the sink. The toilet was in one closet and the shower was in another but not good ventilation. There was a distinct sewer smell. We weren’t sure if it was the pipes or street. You could smell it outside the front of the hotel. It was clean. It was very close to everything. But overall not worth the price. We will definitely stay somewhere else next time.

This was our first visit since the hotel changed ownership & After having read a couple of reviews .. I was prepared to not let anything influence me .. BUT .. was disappointed with the entire check in process and no personal contact .. it felt like a ******* hotel .. liked the concept of keyless entry & a shout out to Parth Patel who was v helpful & tried to make us comfortable 👍thank you Parth !! Liked the Nespresso in the room ; We have been going to the hotel for many years .. the reason was the personal touches of Connie & George .. always made us feel like we were coming home .. it was vv disappointing 😢 to find no one around .

As long-time repeat guests of this hotel, we recently returned for the first visit since it changed hands last winter. We had always enjoyed the warm and genuine hospitality provided by the former owners and staff, and we were looking forward to seeing the upgrades and changes brought by the new ownership. After all, the room rate increased by about $100 per night from last summer.... so it had to be better, right? Sadly, it was a disappointment. First, the concept (called "invisible service", according to the email received the day before arrival) is extremely odd. Check-in via email and text message with no one on site at reception or for Guest Services is very odd, and it was not communicated either via the website or on the reservation confirmation. There was an option to do an in-person check in by going to a different hotel a few blocks away (?) This was a surprise that was dropped on us 24 hours prior to check in. (They also charged my credit card for the full stay one week ahead of arrival). Felt like a bait-and-switch. Having said that, there were a couple of very nice young men onsite doing cleaning and such; they did their best to be helpful and visible. Second, the only visible change in the guest room other than the addition of a Nespresso Vertuo coffee maker was a switch from Cable TV to a Roku streaming box. This requires guests to load and install their own streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc) on the guest room TV. No broadcast services, no CNN, really nothing if you don't bring it yourself. Probably a matter of personal preference but on a quick weekend stay, I would prefer to be able to get some news updates and such, more than settling in to watch Netflix. Third, the price/value relationship here is way off balance. With taxes, these rooms are over $400 per night, which is out of line for the product and for the market. Not sure what rationale there was for the price increase year over year. Fourth, slapping $200 per room on my credit card as a pre-emptive "damage deposit" (that was not communicated other than via a text message or email the day prior to arrival) is really not a nice thing to do with a long-term repeat guest. The charge was refunded promptly after departure, but that's not really the point. Finally, the notion of charging $20 per night for parking in a small town with onsite parking spaces right outside the door is pushing it.
