Premier Inn Southend On Sea (Eastern Esplanade)

Our stay at this hotel was lovely. Melissa at check in was amazing. The rooms were lovely and beds incredibly comfortable. Even when I became poorly on check out day, the staff allowed me to staff for 7 hours past the check out time to recover until I felt well enough to leave. That level of care is rare these days. I will always stay at this hotel in future. Keep up the amazing work!

Breakfast was poor ran out of butter, no fresh fruit yoghurt or orange juice. Restaurant service was 2 hrs. 2 adults 2 teens family room on the first floor and the room above us sounded like it was a bowling alley tbh. Sea view only good thing even charge for parking. Really disappointed and shocking for the price to be honest

My stay was good and my room was fine although next time I will book a room with a view! Pros: Room clean and well equipped Parking very handy Helpful staff Cons: I wasn't notified about the fact the restaurant was closed. As a solo female traveller this caused some anxiety as I didn't know how safe it would be to walk around town at night alone! HOWEVER as luck would have it I discovered Billy Hundreds only 4 minutes walk up the road. This place was amazing and if anyone is wondering where to eat locally I can 110% recommend it, absolutely delicious food. Obviously due to the restaurant being closed, breakfast was an issue as those of us who are travelling on business need an early breakfast. Unfortunately most of the independent cafes in Southend don't open till 9am which was far too late. So I went for a Starbucks, which was OK. Next time, hopefully, I'll get breakfast in the hotel!

Bed and TV were as good as usual though lack of heating, a toilet seat that was broken and a dodgy cable on the lamp not so good. Sadly the restaurant and bar were not open at any point which is a pain when you picked the hotel with that in mind too. Think Premier Inn should let guests know in advance if this is the case and allow to rebook or even offer a refund when that happens. Afterall a lot of travellers look for a restaurant/bar when booking a hotel. Not the first time this has happened to me with Premier Inn, so not impressed with that side of things to be honest. Need to be more upfront Premier Inn!!

Restaurant was and had been shut prior to our arrival. No notification of this or option to rearrange our dates… had paid for meal package and got a refund on this. Room noisy as doors slam, can hear the toilet in rooms either side flushing and people walking around above, so very little sleep

The hotel frontage was clean and appealing, check in went smoothly and our room was pleasant and airy, with a lovely sea view. Unfortunately upon arrival we were advised that the restaurant and bar were closed due to a fault, and that the 2 adult breakfasts we had prepaid for would be refunded to our card, as of yet, I have not received the money back (3 days later). The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the room itself was very noisy all night (what sounded like a boiler tank heating water), fireworks from the Esplanade, and people running up and down the halls until nearly 1 am, but this isn't the fault.of the hotel. We had a sea view and a balcony, but the door handle to the balcony had been removed and staff advised guests weren't allowed to use them, which was disappointing. Overall a good budget hotel and clean.

Room good, staff (when you could find them) pleasant and helpful. But clearly there are real problems, breakfast was delayed 45 mins and shortage of staff meant a real struggle to provide basic service. If you on a time table make sure you have an alternative for breakfast.

Clean and comfortable, a peaceful night's sleep, friendly welcoming staff, happy to recommend, we'll be back. A perfect base for exploring Lymington harbour and the nearby coastline - particularly enjoyed the nature reserve at Hengistbury Head, and riding round on the train.
