Mariner Guesthouse & Villa

We were a family of 5, and stayed at this establishment for 5 days in early January 2024. This is an outstanding guesthouse set up on the hill in Simon's Town with a stunning view of False Bay. Breakfast was delicious and generous, and the outstanding service and assistance from Amanda were very much appreciated. The rooms were neat and clean, and they met our needs during our stay. I would recommend this guesthouse.

Avoid if only because the owner is terrible. We booked a few days in advance and chose this guest house among hundreds because it said it had AC on the booking website. ********** listed it as a filtered amenity they had in room and said it on the guest houses website. It's January here. It's scorching hot. And we need AC to be comfortable at night. We show up, my bf checks in. We bring our bags in and realize, no AC! He goes back and is told only some rooms have AC, not all, and there are no AC rooms available. They offer us the owners daughters room which does have AC but is covered in personal belongings and is basically a small kids room. We say ok well if you have no rooms with AC we will just have to get a different hotel, figuring we're being pretty nice considering.l we have to move our stuff out and get a new place last minute. My bf asks about our refund since we can't stay. The receptionist calls the owner and the owner gets on the phone with my bf and says that we can't have a refund because even though ********** said the rooms have AC, the email that was sent after we paid for the hotel room stated somewhere in the terms and conditions that our room wasn't an AC room. We checked the email and can't find this information, and regardless it wouldn't matter. You can't charge someone for an amenity and then tell them after they've paid that they don't actually offer it. So in addition to have to lug our bags around multiple times and buy a room last minute in a less than safe town, the owner not only doesn't apologize but says they're keeping our money. I should note that in the five minutes we were there we could hear EVERYTHING the guys in the next room said and there was a dog barking nonstop. If you're enthralled with the view of this guest house rest assured that every hotel in this town has a similar view, it's a hillside town. There's hundreds of identical guest houses. I've ran an Airbnb and would never be this rude to a guest about what is at best a misunderstanding and at worst an error on their part. So within ten minutes we issued a charge back for fraud on our credit card, our monies already refunded, and this guest house gets a bad review and a strike against them for Visa charges. Guess that is what they wanted. Perplexing.

Checked in by Mandy who was exceptional in all ways and made us feel right at home. Rooms were lovely and the proximity to town perfect. Breakfast a massive hit with the whole family. We would totally recommend a stay here and would happily return. Thank you Fulton family

The guest attendant Androphy was very helpful, the breakfast was cooked to order and the views were stunning. Restaurants and shopping about 20min walk but the Penguin colony is nearly right next door. Great stay

Its a very beautiful house. My room was very nice with a balcony with a amazing few to the harbour. Liesel and the staff was very kind and friendly. The breakfast was very tasteful and it was possible to order from a menu different kind of eggs and french toast. I wish Liesel and her Staff all the best

I had a very enjoyable and restful stay in a comfortable room with a lovely view from my balcony. Lots of thoughtful touches to make guests feel very much at home, and an excellent breakfast. It was nice to chat with Liesel and she was very helpful about local visits and navigation. I would have been very happy to stay on for longer.

Mariner is perched high up above the centre of Simons Town. You can walk down (quite safe) to the centre, eg for meals, but then you have a steep uphill climb back. Once up there you are compensated by a wonderful view from the room, your private balcony and the common areas. Lovely and accomodating reception by the staff, great food - best breakfast I had in my three weeks in South Africa - and a feel of luxury in every detail. Thanks for a lovely stay.

We have stayed at Mariner Guesthouse on four occasions over the past 10 years and each time we return we are pleased we have been pleased with the choice we have made to stay at this little gem in Simon's Town. We hope to be able to return at a future date.

Wonderful, small guest house with superb ocean view, friendly and helpful service, and excellent breakfasts. Very clean and accommodating. Located in a small, seaside town away from the hubbub of Capetown, close to the Cape of Good Hope. Less than 1 hour from the airport.
