The staff at Tamu couldn't have been more attentive happy to help - David, Nin and Anna - thanks for helping to make our stay so memorable. David helped organise a longtail boat take us out fishing and snorkelling - right from the jetty at the hotel. It was a super fun day and we loved cooking the fish on the boat. What an experience. 4 star service! Swimming with plankton was another fabulous memory made. What a location - the beach remains unspoilt and beautiful. I would recommend dinner at The Secret Garden too - great atmosphere. The 3 stars are given as the hotel itself needs a bit of TLC. Perhaps staying in the tents as opposed to the Jungle Rooms might have been more enjoyable. The owners need to invest a bit more back into their property as they have the perfect ingredients at hand - great staff, great location in a beautiful country. The jungle rooms are tired and lack natural light. The details in the room are further lacking and just generally need a makeover. The staff are more than willing to accommodate but when they don't have the items needed, it makes their job harder. Our recommendations would be - fix the in-room ceiling fans, fit mosquito nets to the jungle rooms to give guests the option to enjoy some fresh air in the room, provide filtered water to all guests for free. Plastic bottles are everywhere and the cost of each bottle of water is $2.50 - there is no other choice. Provide in room anti-bug candles (citronella smell lovely and makes for a lovely ambience and keeps the mosquito's at bay). Provide paddleboards and kayaks that are clean and ready-to-use. I would recommend providing little hand brushes for all loungers to easily clean loungers poolside and beachside. Clean the pool more regularly. Provide standing fans so that guests can cool down more easily whilst eating and sitting in the communal areas. Some ceiling fans had stopped working which made sitting in part so the restaurant uncomfortable.
