Nice hotel very well located in a beautiful place. Our bedroom was big and comfortable, the view was nice, the crew were professional and kind. We spent two nights on a great package for 55+ patrons. We paid a small upgrade fee to get a sea view room which we considered was excellent value. Overall the room, although dated, was very clean, beds comfortable and generally well appointed for a three star hotel. The quantity and speed of the hot water to the bathroom was probably the best we have experienced over the past twenty years of travel. The views exceptional! Unfortunately the dining experience was not of the same standard. On the first night we were informed that the only dining options was a buffet. Not great fans of buffets at the best of times, we agreed after being assured that there was a'fresh' buffet for our agreed buffet time of 9.30pm. Apparently they had group of 80 for the 7.30 time option. We took the 9.30 option in these Covid times to avoid large groups of people. We are just getting back to dining and travel after a two year absence. Well to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The food offered was appalling. The pork and tuna were just luke warm and over cooked from being kept constantly warm. The fries cold and soggy. Salads look liked the seaguls had attacked. Nothing look appetising at all. Hundreds of fruit flies buzzing around the dessert table. We raised our concerns with the manager who tried his best to explain. A very hard task when you looked at the food on display. We asked about the 'fresh' buffet only to be informed that fresh food is only brought out when the existing plate emptied. A different stiry to the one told in reception when booking. We would have gone somewhere else if we were in a city like Lisbon, but already after 10pm there are no other dining options close by. So the choice was now buffet or no dinner. We weren't even offered room service of a freshly cooked a-la-carte meal. After a long discussion, mainly with my partner who rarely eats meat and only white fish, we were promised a freshly cooked meal of pork and tuna. The chips were great, hot and crispy but the meat and fish just reheated, still only warm and very dry. A complete disappointment Breakfast was a little better the following morning but very limited hot options. Dinner the second night was at a local restaurant only ten minutes walk. Fantastic compared to our first night experience. Fresh, tastier and cheaper too.

Room was very nice, clean and spacious with a beautiful view. Staff was friendly, food had good choices. Business facilities were good, although air conditioning in conference room could have been a bit easier to control. Hotel is located in a beautiful area, bit far from the city.

We were given the attic room with sloping ceilings and so kept banging our heads. When we mentioned this at reception and asked if we could change rooms they replied we couldn't change and yes our room was not great for tall people (my husband is 6' and I'm 5'6”). The hanging rail was good, like the room, if you were under 4' tall and there were no other hooks to hang a coat or dress! After the 2nd night the stench coming from the bathroom was just too much to bear and we asked if something could be done (it was making us both feel nauseous). They said they would fix it but didn't and we were so happy to leave after the 4th night as the stench was now keeping us awake!!!! The room was inadequate, the stench unacceptable but the balcony was nice and the bed was comfortable. The staff were pleasant and the breakfast was good as were the downstairs communal facilities. I wouldn't have have written this review had, when I wrote to the hotel about my dissatisfaction, they replied with something more than an apology stating ”Regarding the smells felt in the plumbing you mentioned, unfortunately it is a problem felt throughout the village of Ericeira and when the weather is bad, it is a collateral damage that we suffer” I stayed in Ericeira in June and my daughter lives there and this is the first I've heard of it also, the weather was mainly warm and dry!

Upon entering the Aethos Ericeira Hotel, located on a former cliff farm on the west coast of Portugal, we were immediately greeted by an ambiance of understated luxury and comfort. This gem, nestled in the charming coastal town of Ericeira, embodies a refined escape from the hustle and bustle, with the gentle lapping of the Atlantic Ocean in the background as a constant melody. Every detail, from the striking arched windows to the carefully chosen earth tones, contributes to a warm and inviting atmosphere that embraces every guest. The rooms are spacious and offer a range of modern conveniences, while the subtle earthy color palette, high-quality materials, and comfortable bed ensure a restful sleep and a sense of total relaxation. The breakfast was well cared for with plenty of choice of freshly prepared dishes. However, the dining area can feel a bit cramped at full occupancy of the hotel, especially in the off-season when it's less pleasant to sit outside. Nevertheless, the start of the day was always pleasant with a delicious breakfast in a charming setting. We recommend renting a car, as the nearest beaches are not easily reached on foot. Both Ericeira and the nearby Santa Cruz are nice villages to visit. For a day trip, it is worth driving to Praia Carvalhal in Comporta (about 2 hours drive) and enjoying the beautiful nature and a delightful lunch at the Sublime Comporta Beach Club. Another thrilling day trip is to Nazaré, known for its massive waves where die-hard surfers set world records. With waves that can reach up to 25 meters high, it's a breathtaking spectacle that attracts surfers and spectators from all over the world. What we particularly appreciated was the flexibility and understanding the staff showed when our daughter fell ill a day before our departure. Without hesitation, we were allowed to stay a bit longer in our room on the day of checkout, which made a world of difference in our situation. A downside was the lack of price lists for items in the minibar and spa treatments. It would have been helpful to have a clear overview of the costs for these extras. An extra word of appreciation is in place for Veronica, Andre, and Bruno, each of whom contributed to our great experience with a smile and a personal touch. And of course, our thanks to everyone we may have forgotten to mention, you all made our stay special. Under the inspiring leadership of the General Manager, Floris, the staff of the Aethos Ericeira Hotel go above and beyond to provide sincere and personal service.
