"Me & my partner had such an incredible time here! The chalet we had was incredible - such a beautiful, quiet, peaceful & relaxing spot to recharge between trips and before heading to the restaurant in the pousada or into town for the evening and see the beautiful sunset. The room was so clean, a great size and kept to a nice temperature, so you could really unwind when you needed to and had the perfect platform to start the day and the service was really efficient and helpful, whether requesting some items (my partner had coeliacs) or recommendations to explore, whether for day trips, lengthier river cruises or hiking trips. The bar was superb, offering a great mix of local variations on caipirinhas and the food was unreal - definitely try the local delicacies, the Tambaqui was some of the best fish i've had! The area in the pousada itself was so full of wildlife, it really does feel like your exploration of the local nature starts here! As a base to explore the Amazon, I really couldn't recommend it more - it was not too far by car to the Floresta Nacional do Tapajos, the river tours around the area were easily arranged & accessible from the local pier at Alter do Chao and the beaches around Alter do Chao are so beautiful (particularly Ilha do Amor!) especially in sunet. When we went it was between seasons, coming out of the wet season, so the river was still high and the wildlife was just jawdropping. We had such a good time, we plan to return - hopefully sooner rather than later!"

"My wife and I (Americans) traveled to Santarem to meet up with my brother and his family (his wife is originally from Santarem and they were back visiting). He recommended a hotel but it was fully booked so I looked on the map, found Hotel Prata, the reviews looked okay, and prices were very good by US standards so I made booking for 2 separate dates (we were traveling a little in between). The hotel has a great location a couple of blocks from riverfront with bars, etc. The room was unexpectedly good, with a little balcony and a clean bathroom with good hot water (something we'd missed in some other places we stayed!). The air conditioning was excellent and easy to control. A buffet breakfast was included in a nice dining area. The people at reception were always nice and friendly. They didn't speak much English but this wasn't a problem . Waldemar was really helpful throughout our stays, and when we said we liked our room so much during the first stay he fixed it so that we got the same room on our second stay. All in all we had a great time."
