The Plaza hotel is within a 3 minute walk to the bus and train stations and a 10 minute walk to the ferry. We arrived in a rental car after driving through Puglia. We dropped our car off at Europecar which is right around the corner from the hotel (other car rental agencies are also in the same area). Salerno was the starting point for the rest of our vacation on the Amalfi Coast where we travelled via Ferry. The hotel is also perfectly located to walk around the historic area, the restaurants and shops and the waterfront with beautiful views of the mountains from the tree lined pedestrian walk. The hotel offers a continental breakfast each morning with espresso coffees.
The apartment is 700 meters walk or 3 bus stops from the maritime and railway station and 50 meters from the beach.
Excellent starting point for visiting: the islands of Capri or Ischia, the Amalfi coast , Sorrento, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Naples, Paestum, Reggia di Caserta. All the resorts are located at a maximum distance of 50 km. Which can be reached by public transport or by boat or own car.
Guests have access to the whole house. There is shared bathroom and use kitchen equipped with everything and a living room to eat.
The guest can have access to the whole house, and use the kitchen.

They are always available to guests, giving them advice on what to see and how to get there.
Very comfortable stay. Nice, clean room certainly no complaints in that respect. Location is outside of the centre of Salerno, however a half-hourly train can be caught 5 minutes walk away from the hotel, which gets u into Salerno in 15 minutes, and u can be at the tourist ferry terminal in 25 minutes. A small number of restaurants around and a supermarket is 2 minutes away.
Breakfast was very basic but was sufficient enough. Not too bad for the price point and definitely cheaper than Amalfi Coast, but the easy access to Amalfi Coast made it worth the stay.
The hotel is ok, some weird rules around the pool where you are obligated to wear a cap in order to access it. The safe guard is very persistent on keeping this rule. The restaurant was surprisingly better than expected. It takes about 1.5h to reach amalfi by the car from hotel. Hotel has a parking lot which is def a perk. The rooms were ok and clean.

From the moment we arrived at the B&B il Duca d'Amalfi we felt at home. Ilaria and her family were exceptionally kind and caring to us as if we were part of her family. The rooms are great and always clean. The location is fantastic, it has tons of great restaurants and stores its close to every form of transportation that will take you to Amalfi,Capri,Positano and many more places. I fell in love with Salerno and would highly recommend it. Thank you Iliana for everything.
We highly recommend and would stay again. Room: The room was adequately sized, especially for being in the city. The bed itself was extremely comfortable and I really enjoyed the large balcony. Our room faced the street and we found it to be quiet during the day and/or night. An Italian breakfast is provided in the room daily and there was a mini fridge with water. Location: The property is a few minute walk to the main walking street where there are bars, restaurants, and shops. This street can take you to the train station in one direction and the historical center in the other. The property is also within walking distance to the ferry and the beach. We are avid walkers, but I would say nothing took longer than 10 minutes to get to. My only caution would be that there is a small incline when walking to the property from the south. Hospitality: The highlight of our stay was the hospitality. The host promptly met us when we arrived earlier than planned. Maid service was done daily even when we said it wasn’t necessary if they felt uncomfortable due to Covid. We also left behind a bag of cords by accident and remembered a week later. We contacted the property and the host promptly replied and set up a day and time to meet so we could pick it up. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
Like most of the hotel reviews, this is an excellent hotel. We all had sea view rooms (I was with a group). We only stayed one night but the weather was perfect and after a long day traversing the Amalfi coast with all the crowds it was a lovely way to unwind. We all went to the Pepe Nero pizzeria next door for pizza and wine which was a fun way to relax after so many large meals. The staff are lovely, the breakfast very good. Yes, it's not near the historical center, but it's a great alternative. I would definitely stay there again.
