We had an unexpected, but incredible stay at the Hotel Salem for a joint Birthday getaway for my Fiancé and myself. There was an issue with our original rental a few blocks away which forced us to relocate. We decided to take a walk to the hotel and check their availability. We encountered several different individuals at the front desk throughout our stay and all of them were INCREDIBLE. They provided us with a birthday surprise and card after we told them about the bad luck with our original booking. They were extremely helpful & friendly. The staff also had great insight into the area. They helped to turn around what started off as a nightmare trip into an excellent vacation. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone coming to visit Salem. They truly went above and beyond.
This hotel is definitely not worth the amount they charge nightly. We paid over $300 a night for a one week stay in September 2024. Pros: - The rooms are okay. Has a mini fridge and microwave which came in handy - The bedsheets were clean - Breakfast was pretty good every morning. The food was hot, delicious and fresh. They also had good options for the waffle flavours. The potatoes were pretty good. - The gym is pretty nice. They give you free headphones for the treadmill and you’re able to refill your water bottle. - The location is excellent. Everything is within walking distance and there is a Starbucks right across the street. - Parking is easy for $25 a day Cons: - Bathroom shower was filthy… so filthy I had to go to the Walgreens across the street to buy cleaning supplies to clean the shower floor myself. There was also a blood stain (or what seemed like a blood stain) on the wall behind the trash can next to the toilet. This was a bit stressful and disgusting since we were traveling with our 19 month old who wants to literally touch everything. - The carpet in our room was so dirty that the bottom of our shower shoes turned black. - Moldy air conditioning unit - For $300 a night, we expected the place to be cleaner
