Outpost@ Alibaug Resort

I had been to this hotel newr Chondi, in Alibaug as it was a 2 star place which was trying to provide a decent vegetarian food and ok sleep, particularly when Radisson Alibaug was full. Their breakfast and meal offerings was really homelike. My recent visit however was a disaster from the checkin. I was early at 10.45 am and was told I should checkin only after 2. Interestingly rooms were available in my category on the reservation website. Since, I had a busy schedule and a car, we went to breakfast and paid for two breakfast. But after tea, we were told that breakfast closes at 1030 am, so they will give only a few available dishes. So why charge full breakfast price and not offer only menu items at cost?. But mistakes happens, so we just paid and moved on. When we try to checkin back at 240ish pm, we were asked to fill a form. I mentioned that information asked on the form was already takin on Internet during reservations and so they can get it form there. So the truth came out, oh the room is still being made. They have 7 rooms at these highest categories, hardly 3 were occupied and they can get still it ready 39 minutes after check in. At 315 pm room was still not available. Apparently the bathroom door, which is very heavy plywood was not working well. We dropped our bags, and went to other meeting. We had booked the room with breakfast and dinner plan. But when we asked front office near dinner time, he mentioned we don’t have any such a plan. Luckily, we had a screen shot and internet acknowledgment of same, and so this issue was resolved. While the hotel has a new pool and few things added, its general level of service has fallen. The new, highest category room had too many things not working - the heavy bathroom door, the shower door, the water loggin in shower stall, many of electrical plugs for using phone chargers… list goes on. Since when we left, we requested an invoice through email, we have still not received it after 3 phone calls and 4 WA conversation. Today I got an email asking to book hotel for New Year Celebrations. The wall papers on roof are all worn out and breaking apart restaurant. Feels sad to see this place going down so badly while charging INR 9000 just for room.

Been visiting Outpost nearly every year now (expect offcourse the lockdown). This may be my 4th visit to Outpost and never have they disappointed me. The boutique resort is a nice quaint place to be, far from the hustle bustle of the cities. Though the beach is far, the resort has enough to offer to keep you entertained. The resort has a very good play area and well maintained to be honest. They have a dedicated area for squash which is superb. Then there is table tennis, carrom, snakes and ladders, snooker. Havent used the Gym ever ;) but I am sure that would be maintained very well as well. Coming to the food and restaurant. They have 2 restaurants (One which is multicuisine and the other is Italian). The Multicuisine restaurant offers VEG options only, while the Italian menu has non-veg options as well. The food at both places is very good. They also have a Coffee corner which has limited but good coffee options. Umesh at KC Roasters was a very friendly and served us well. Thank you Umesh for that ! At the restaurant, we were served by Prakash Joshi. Always smiling and very gentle person. He made sure we had good food. Even others at the resautrant a super friendly. We had Pithala-Bhakari for lunch, and I must say we were thoroughly impressed. Thank you chefs for the amazing lunch ! All in all a very good place to stay and visit.
