Lovely clean and friendly hotel, staff very helpful and would go out of their way to help especially Edwardo behind the bar. Yes the hotel is a good walk away from most things but 10-15 minutes walk would get you to the supermarkets Lidl aldi and the main shopping hall and about 15-20 minutes walk would get you to the main ***** and beach. We walk a few times and was a steady easy walk but you can get a local taxi for 5-6 euros or uber for around 4 euros. Our room was cleaned ever day had everything you need for self catering and several English tv channels room also had free aircon. You can hire a safe which is located behind reception which was €40 for 2 weeks with a €30 deposit that you get back when you return the key. There is a cafe style bar called funky right next door which is reasonable but like wise is the hotel bar where a pint of lager is €3.50 and a large wine €2.50 . Question would we return? In a heart beat

The room was very good. Ours certainly had comfortable mainly modern furnishings and most of what was needed in the kitchen. The whole place was very clean. We were fortunate with south and west facing balconies. It is Not very noisy, except when the odd guest is shouting at night or early morning. We thought the hotel Well located ( you can walk you know, I am over 80 and it was no problem !) for Portimao, Vau beach (the best) and PDR (if you really want to go there). There were several small supermarkets (eg Auchan) closer than Lidl/Aldi/Continente (very good); but hey you’re self catering, so do your homework and do a big shop (come back in a taxi - once). The railway station is only about half an hour’s walk with cheap trains to Lagos or to the west… half-price for over 65s. The key to holiday bookings is research in advance! In this case do not go here if you want space to lounge by a big pool in a garden or have easy access to a beach. This is an excellent place to stay if you want to get around and see things. There are many restaurants in walking distance, including one of the best in the area on the back road to Vau…. The Fifth Empire (Quinto Império), again do your research. The only bad issue we had was the failure on some days of the maids to get to our room even though we had been out most of the day ! Otherwise would have given them 5 points.
