The staff is very helpful, very professional, exceptional excellent service. Front Office staff (Phathisa & Mihlali) gave brilliant service with a smile, best experience I ever got in any Hotel. Thank U soon much Ladies. Vali very helpful, helped me tune in T.V for rugby, also brought me (Room Service) delicious healthy food. Thanks Vali. Staff service (out of this world) Will be back soon with my Family I'm from Cape Town and your service here is better than any hotel I have been to. Happy Customer 😊
We have stayed here many time because it is a beautiful building in an excellent location. The general staff are outstanding and the food and rooms are amazing. Unfortunately the front desk is just not the same as the rest of the experience. When I wrote in to ask for an early check in I got no reply- on my arrival I asked about this and was told because I got no reply that means it’s fine. I find this odd as I explained that we were arriving after a three part flight over 18 hours. We have stayed here at least 3 other times and my comment for each time would be pretty much the same - I feel the front desk could do better to Mach their rest of the experience.
Probably my worst hotel experience ever taking into consideration I travel for at least 4 months out of the year. The Boardwalk had so much potential when it opened and I attended a tourism expo at the hotel amd everything was top notch. Now it is run with virtually no services being offered in the restaurant and staff seem to think they on vacation. Rooms are rundown and seem old in need of freshening up. Food is below calibre some of the worst food I have eaten in my life.
We had an absolutely great Cape Trip with no terrible rooms, all 5star in their own way. But No. 5 and Swartberg Manor were our two best. No. 5 was an awesome! value. It was easily our best room physically in are whole trip. Spacious!, clean, quiet and peaceful. We were put up in the 3 room annex across the street, room number 10, it was huge and well appointment. Crossing the street for breakfast was no big deal, in return we had a house with only 3 quests, total peace and quiet and pool virtually to ourselves. The food was outstanding for dinner, and the breakfast superb! They made hot breakfast 20 min early for us (06:40) to facilitate our daytrip/safari at Addo Elephant. Unbelievable service. Art work is a great touch making this a unique place. Great service all around, but Nick the desk manager who we interacted with the most was superb. Attached some pics of the Annex.
GGenieBWow I must say we were warmly greeted at the door and treated so very kindly. Nomi who was absolutely cheerful and kind to us. She was definitely one of the best parts of our stay. Walking into the beautiful garden filled with the aroma of different scents of roses. The room was so immaculate and the location is perfect. Thanks for allowing us to have such a wonderful stay.
TTrip33665410776I recently checked into Carslogie House in Port Elizabeth around 7pm on a Wednesday night, and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a gentleman who wasn’t particularly friendly. I asked him for a simple bowl of ice, and to my surprise, he told me he doubted they had any ice at all. I travel frequently, and in my experience, either ice is readily available in the bar fridge or the staff is more than happy to provide some upon request. His response was unexpected, and I questioned him, asking if there was really no ice in the freezer. He firmly said, ”unfortunately not.” Things took a turn for the worse when, about 10 minutes later, I was approached very aggressively by the owner. She was extremely confrontational, getting uncomfortably close to me and telling me that she had to bring ice from her house down the road. She flung a small bag of ice onto the table and scolded me for asking about the ice, accusing me of disrespecting her employee. I was shocked by her rudeness, as I was simply a guest making a polite inquiry. What made it worse was her dismissive attitude when I politely mentioned that I was vegetarian. She rudely shouted back, ”oh well, good luck with that,” before rushing off. I felt completely unwelcome and uncomfortable. As a result, I didn’t even attend breakfast on either of my mornings, even though it had already been paid for. I had no desire to interact with the owner again. This experience was unlike anything I’ve ever encountered in a guest house. The owner and staff desperately need to improve their hosting skills. I cannot recommend Carslogie house , as the hospitality was appalling.
We spent one night here, arriving at about 20:00 after a long flight. Our room was quite nice, but a bit old, it had a small verandah and a kitchenette. Breakfast was good. The location is very good, between the airport and the sea. There is private parking. The owner is very kind and she went the extra mile calling her friend and even a friend of her friend to let us know how to find the bench with Mandela statue at University. They have some lights and wi-fi working during loadshedding, that it’s very important.
First of all, when you walk into this hotel, it's absolutely breathtaking. Service - You are greeted with a friendly and professional receptionist. I am happy with the service that we received... BUT the after hour receptionist is completely rude and never at the desk. I'm hoping that management will make a replacement. I've had my fair share of visiting hotels and there should always be someone at the front desk. This person should have a good and professional attitude. Instead the man who I called to the front desk was clearly tired and irritable. Rooms - Elevator, television, wifi, a large bathroom, excellent water pressure, soap etc is provided, extremely clean, comfortable bed, large vanity and a massive air conditioner. The rooms are smaller than what we are used to but it's cozy. Load shedding - So unfortunately the air conditioner switches off during load shedding. During this time we were suffering from the unbearable heat. I'm hoping the hotel will upgrade to larger generators. View - Quite a small window, you cannot see the view from your bed which is dissapointing considering we paid extra for an ocean view. Price - R 1450 for a beach view bedroom My opinion... Is it worth it? That would depend on your budget. I usually stay at the Courtyard Hotel which has a balcony, gym, impeccable 24hr service and massive rooms. They charge R1990 per night. If that's what you can afford then I reccomend Courtyard hotel. Town lodge is excellent for a budget price.
Fine hotel with great sea view. Dinner was good and service fine. Room was ok but might be a bit hard to get up stairs for some. Maybe there was a lift but did not find it. Pool was nice but obviously too cold in July. Conference room was ok and all in all a good stay
Port Elizabeth 😌🙏
