The hotel is very central in this delightful town. Loading and unloading is easy in the one way street but parking is a short walk away in a public car park, which the hotel will pay for. built inside what was a monastery it has interesting internal architecture and our rooms were two story with the bed up some stairs. This might not suit everyone but otherwise very well equipped and a good breakfast.
Had very low expectations because of all the bad reviews. However it's not that bad or I was lucky. The room was small (but it's normal for an Ibis) but fortunately there was no street noise or serious malfunctions. The room wasn't too hot although it was +30 degrees outside. The bed was comfortable. Can't comment on breakfast. It was a bit odd but nobody on the front desk spoke any English. I know I'm in France but this is an international chain hotel in a touristic city (Poitiers is very nice and underrated, by the way). One more thing - my stay cost me 25 EUR. If the price was 2-3 times higher, perhaps I would be more picky.
Disappointing stay here is putting it mildly - we booked a king suite at a not low rate, and the ”sitting room,” adjacent to the bedroom had an old broken sofa bed that could not be folded closed, thus making it impossible to use as a place to sit - in addition it had a cigarette burn hole on one cushion, and the thin carpeting was stained in a number of spots. The unadorned drab rooms were reminiscent of a prison waiting room with the cheap carpeting and plain beige walls. We had booked this hotel especially to have a/c and the small wall air conditioner for the bedroom was worse than useless. In fact, we turned it on, closed the door, and came back two hours later to find the bedroom warmer than the sitting room, which had no a/c. When I mentioned it to reception, there was little response. But perhaps the crowning insult was the afternoon desk clerk (British accented), who, when we asked for two glasses for a bottle of wine we purchased at the shop next to the hotel, refused our request, saying at first she didn't have any glasses (there is a bar at the reception desk with a shelf of glasses about three feet away in plain view) and then telling us that she couldn't give us glasses because the hotel patrons ”steal them or break them and imbed shards of glass into the carpet and the maids get injured.” When I said I had never heard of such a thing, she said it is ”common in France.” We've traveled many years in France and other European countries and this was a first. To be fair, when one of us went back down to reception to beg for a bit of ice, she relented and gave us two glasses, saying she could get in trouble for doing so. The good - breakfast was a good value for 15euros. The morning reception worker was very cheerful and willing to point us in the direction of the sights in Portiers. Location was great. There are other hotels nearby - I'd check them out before booking this one.
Excellent hotel service fantastic and value for money, Will use this hotel in the future, it’s very very clean and they look after a little white cat who is a stray every time we stay it’s outside waiting for food, they are very kind to look after it.
Tucked away on the other side of the river Philippe's B & B is a hidden haven. The attention to detail is outstanding in pretty well every aspect. The welcome, warm and hospitable, the rooms beautifully appointed , excellent beds ensure a perfect sleep. Service is the hallmark of this establishment and sets a benchmark others can only aspire to! As others have said, the breakfast is a real treat, freshe products almost all local, great breads, no, really great breads, home roamed eggs , herbs, and so on....beautifully presented. This may be a tad on the edge of town but an easy 10 -15 min walk and so very much worth it. The EV charging point you can pre-reserve is also a nice touch. Meric Phillipe.
Great location, very friendly staff. We didn't find the hotel hot or noisy at all. It's located on the main square of town, there's going to be some noise but it didn't bother us at all. I traveled with my brother, we had separate rooms and neither of us had any problems. Would definitely stay there again!
My girlfriend and I stayed here on a Saturday night. It is less than 300 meters from an all you can eat and drink Chinese buffet. That's the good part. On arrival allocated room 06. I had a shower and found the shower base was not flat and a fall hazard. I tried to plug my French phone charger into the socket by the bed and received an electric shock from the earth post. The bed was very uncomfortable to sleep on. I told the hotel at breakfast next day and actually wrote it down and translated the problem into French so they would fully understand. They showed no concern at all and although I can understand French they said very little. At nearly 100 euro for the night this was not a low priced hotel and it was not good enough. I wanted a nice stay not have a room that would injure me. I do not recommend this hotel.
