Grand Velas Riviera Maya - All Inclusive

I'd like to say the food was pretty good, Michelin restaurant was just so-so. Mexican, Italian, French were the highlights. Sen Lin was medicocre. Breakfast was pretty good at the buffet and Bistro. The service and staff were really wonderful at all of the restaurants, bars, and adult pool service. My husband and I went as a couples, but also with the intention to check it out for Spring Break 2025. It was between St. Regis, Banyan Tree, or Rosewood. We had initially booked St. Regis but I have heard terrible things, including people falling sick. In the early hour morning (3AM) before we are set to depart, I was awoken to something rather large CRAWLING on my ankle/leg. I turned on the flashlight on my phone and was HORRIFIED to discover a 4-5" SCORPION at the foot of bed in sheets. We were encouraged by hotel to save water and not change sheets every night. The sheets had been changed two days prior. I am convinced this did NOT come from the 4th floor in which we were staying. I do believe this came in through the bedding/maid. Earlier in the week I could see the laundry facilities via pillows lined up in the window with no bags/wrapping/etc. I strongly believe there is a lack of protocol for bedding. We called manager and concierge promptly. They were unapologetic and brushed it off as "nature".. I can see that as well, but I have been traveling to Mexico for over 15 years and have not seen this. The manager attempted to give me a key to the room next door, but I was not able to go back to sleep after this incidence. Had this bitten myself, husband, or kids-could have been a whole different story. I attempted to have the manager call me, but he has not. I truly do believe they are lacking proper protocols to prevent something like this from happening. The manager said he had never seen a scorpion at the hotel and this has not happened before. Check your bed every night. I was so excited to travel back to GV with kids and extended family but do not think that will happen now. It was a terrible and terrifying experience.

Everything was just perfect, the hotel staff really makes the effort to makes you feel as a King! Wide Restaurants options, One of them has a Micheline star, the “Chaka” Restaurant was one of my favs with local “cusine” (don’t miss the “lima soup”)

This was one of the best trips we have ever taken. Grand Velas was spectacular. The staff was very attentive, courteous, friendly, and catered to our every need. Our Concierge person for the week, Adilene, was always visible and always checked in to see if we needed anything. The pool staff and bartenders, Jorge, Carlos, Iran, and the rest of the staff were nothing short of amazing. We were extremely happy with this resort and are definitely returning in the future. Rooms are outdated and dirty . Private Concierge should check if rooms are perfect before the guests come in . Never cleaned the pool and balcony at the Grand Class Suites and were greedy restocking minibar . Adults pool and beach has the best waiters , they go above and beyond expectations !

Our trip to this resort was a spectacular experience. This would be my second Grand Velas resort and I have stayed at several other premier resorts over the last 8 years, and GV is by far the best. The SPA (do the water ceremony) is second to no one. The food is wonderful and everything is right where it needs to be when you need it. Vividriana (hope I spell her beautiful name correctly) even made our daughter’s birthday extra special by sending arrangements and balloons to our room. Then a gentlemen named Lorenzo who took wonderful care of my family during our business events always made sure to have a drink in my hand and brought a cake for our daughter for her special day. (We didn’t even ask for this!). Lastly I want to give a shout out to someone I now call my friend. Ernesto, who ran the beach area service. I must say getting treated so well made me want to come back. I assure you that my family and I will be coming back to this resort. These are real people who actually care about their job and I’ve never been around such a clean and friendly environment. I was treated so well and so impressed that I can honestly say I’ve never even left a yelp review in my life, even when something was so terrible I wanted to warn others. I HAD to make sure that this resort and these people got the recognition they deserve. TOP notch. Thank you all for an unforgettable trip. We will see you again.

Jose was amazing and tried to help us given the circumstances. He was attentive and cared for our needs. He made sure my daughter’s balloons and cake were delivered and even made sure they wouldn’t deflate before her seeing it (the weather was terrible) Truly a great person. Thank you for all your hard work Jose!

We had the best time at Grand Velas Riviera Maya. The resort is gorgeous and they really think of everything. I didn’t have to lift a finger the whole week! We had the BEST concierge Alfonso Alamilla! He even set up a huge surprise for our whole family and friends for the end of our stay - a private lunch on the beach. The resort staff made paella especially for us. It was so thoughtful and was the cherry on top of the vacation!

Wonderful service. Beautiful resort. Great food. We enjoyed our time at Grand Velas and would highly recommend it. Alfonso, our butler, was top notch! He went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. If you can get Alfonso as your personal concierge, do so!
