Wanted to watch the AFL when in the area and didn't want to try get into the busy areas of Cherngtalay. De Sports Bar I have driven past many times at Tour De Phuket Hotel but not stopped. This is a great Sports Bar! I am really happy we did enjoyed lunch and the footy. Clean, plenty of TVs, friendly staff and a good variety of drinks on tap, bottled and spirits. Good all day menu, we had pizza and Salmon Lunch and was very good, fresh, fast and good size. Recommend
Resort is 40-50 mins drive from the Phuket airport. Not really near any beaches (30 min drive to the closest one) or town (20 min drive). Restaurants available around the lagoon area. Local road side restaurants on the main road. Boat arcade supermarket 5 mins walk from the resort front desk. Nice swimming pool, with kids playing area, and pool valleyball net available. Polite staffs. Good coffee at lighthouse cafe. Initially, we have booked a premier delux room with lagoon view. We arrived the resort entrance saying ”this looks nice”. But we checked in and realised we were not staying at the hotel wing. We were led to the marina/ lagoon side, which looked a lot like a retirement village. The room was large, nice view looking at the yachts. But the room was so neglected, and definitely needed some cleaning and re-furnishing done. Long story short, we had a long drive, we stayed the first night, and we would get a room change the next morning. Obviously, we didn't get a good night sleep. We approached the front desk, complaint about that room and wanted a room change. This was the first time I ever complaint about hotel room. Initially, the staffs wanted us the price difference, in the end offering a room at hotel wing, facing the pool with no extra cost. We checked out the room condition before accepting it. The difference was heaven and hell . Just want to thank front desk staffs for making room change available. This made the end of our trip on a high note. Just want to mention, although pool regulations said that no lifeguard on duty. But if pool attendant/staff sees young kids wander into pool without adult, staffs should intervene. One morning during breakfast hours, 3 kids walked into the pool , the oldest kid maybe only 7 yr old. The played at the kids area for 15-20 min unattended. The mother popped up from one of the rooms on 1st floor. The son decided jumped into deeper water. Lucky he didn't submerge straight away and managed to yell at his mother for help. Mother saved own son. Nobody would have noticed the kid was drowning if mom wasn't there.
Stayed for 8 nights in this hotel with my wife. Excellent hotel overall. Very clean indeed, staff very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They open doors for you as you enter reception, take you bags to your room, help sort car / moped hire etc, The room was very clean and well appointed. Bath and beach towels are provided and they change these as frequently a you need. They also provide all the usual essentials including shower gel, shampoo, toilet paper, bottled water every day. Kettle, hob, large sink and basic utensils, glasses, cups etc were all provided. Also an iron and ironing board as well as a clothes drying stand. The big kitchen sink is easily bug enough to do clothes washing in. Room service was excellent each day. Balcony size on normal rooms was slightly small, especially as was shared with two large air conditioning units (all balconies appear the same) so this made the balcony cramped, noisy and hot when air conditioning was on. Breakfast was provided in the adjoining restaurant. This was excellent offering fresh hot and cold food, eggs made to your liking (fried, scrambled, omelettes, etc), bacon, sausages, fruit, bread, croissants, etc etc. Seemed to have everything included plentiful supply of juices, coffee, tea, etc. Most things self-service but the staff were on hand to help and to clear used dished. The location of the hotel means it is a 15 minute to the beach and 15 minutes to the main restaurant area known as Boat Avenue. Fortunately the hotel runs a shuttle bus service twice an hour to both locations and back until 9.10pm. Would be nice if slightly later coming back from Boat Avenue, but taxis and tuk-tuks were on hand although these aren't the cheapest. The main local beach is Bang Tao beach. This is lovely. Very clean (as everywhere seems to be here), soft white sand, gentle shelving into the water with no stones or rocks. Shame about sea lice the bite / sting in the water but they are everywhere in this part of the world depending on time of year and they are a very minor irritation. Also good availability of sun-beds as well as beverages from the beach shacks. Lots of fresh water showers and there is parking next to the beach as well as toilets. Boat Avenue has plenty of nice restaurants - see my other reviews if you want to see where we went and what we thoughts. Lots to choose from. Most restaurants seem to slow down food service after 9.30pm and this is not a clubby resort. Was just right for us though as there were plenty of bars and some with live music (check out The Mexican bar and restaurant). Wine is not cheap here and starts around £30 a bottle - although some could be found around £25. We stuck to beer with dinner. There is also a handy large supermarket selling everything you could need and is right by taxi station and open until 10pm. Final top tip about this area is to visit on a Friday night if you can as the street market is great with street food and live music. Easy to hire cars and
