Holiday Inn Expresses are our default hotel choice and this one, being in Florida and a relatively well-travelled area, met all our expectations save for ONE glaring issue. We got in around 8 after driving all day and decided to take the front desk’s suggestion and exercise the 20% discount at the TGI Fridays within walking distance. Since we hadn’t been to one in 15 years we decided ‘what the heck?’ After returning from dinner feeling no pain, as they say, we went to bed without really scrutinizing they room. In the morning, once we were a little more lucid, I noticed the toilet I was sitting on had some MAJOR issues. As someone that’s renovated a couple houses I’m pretty comfortable in my theory that this toilet was probably rescued from a bathroom AFTER it it had been demolished. The seat was stained, marred and scored and the porcelain rim had chips in it. All this was noticed after we had been using it the night before and that morning. A toilet seat in this condition can not be properly cleaned and I felt pretty disgusted that we had used it after taking showers and going to bed - pretty much felt like I needed another shower after seeing it. How does something like this happen? How could such a key component of a hotel stay be in such unacceptable condition? Otherwise the facility was well-kept and comfortable. The only other quibble I could muster is the air conditioner being a little loud, but it’s Florida and they get worked hard. We’ll still keep going to HIE locations but this was probably the biggest fail we’ve ever experienced at one.
Very impressive hotel. Upon arrival it felt very zen and welcoming. There is a good number of amenities for the price. It is perfectly located close to several restaurants and bars that you can walk to. The staff were wonderful in the midst of what was a stressful time for everyone during Hurricane Milton. I highly recommend a stay here even if you are not fleeing a natural disaster.
Myself and three of my friends, take a golf trip every year and have stayed here for the past ten years or so. Please note that everyone that works there is wonderful and very accommodating. The daily breakfast was very good. However, since the proprty has been purchased and new management has taken over, things have gone downhill. Upon arrival neither rooms could be opened. After a time and new room cards, we were able to get into our room. The other room could not be unlocked. Finally a maintenance worker was able to open the door with his master fob, but couldnot get the key cards to work. since no other rooms were available, they were given a master fob. I assume it was set to only work on that room, but it would not work on the outside doors. The next day when we returned and went to our rooms. The room with the lock trouble was wide open and lock was in pieces on the table. They had been working on it and had left it that way while they were somewhere else. Do not know how long it was open for. When we checked out, one room was supposed to be on my credit card, the other room was supposed to be on one of their cards. They left everything on my card. They had the information and card number for the other from check-in. Perhaps the staff is not all properly trained. The assistant manager assured us she could fix it. Each room should have been approximately $2200. By the time she was done, the other room had $4400 charged and mine had been charged nearly $11,000. At that time she said she could not change it because of the large amount involved. When we got home, we had to spend time calling the general manager and spend a couple of weeks calling my credit card company (just in case) and checking in online to make sure the excess charges were removed. It was finally straightened out, but it should never have happened. As a side note there used to be activities four nights per week for the guests, i.e., pizza night, grill night, movie night and so on. Not anymore. Overall disappointing.
Check in and out was easy. All employees were friendly and helpful. Any requests were handled right away (extra towels, refill for conditioner, etc...). The room was clean and comfortable. Was nice that living area had separate temperature control from the bedroom. There was 6 of us, the ones that liked it cold, slept in bedroom, the ones that wanted warmer slept on sofa bed. The kitchenette was nice, and a decent sized refrigerator and freezer was a plus. The pool area was clean and well kept. One pool was heated, the other not. Hotel was busier on the weekend than weekdays. Pools still had plenty of room for all. There were grills for use, if you desired. Breakfast was good, the usual buffet for suburban locations. Do need a car, or could Uber, but nothing is a long drive away. The only disappointment was on weekdays, they didn't have coffee out round the clock. We checked out at 2:30 am to catch a 6 am flight and return car rental in Tampa. Coffee especially that night would have gone along way. You never know when people will check in or out, be up super early or be up late. Coffee should be available for those people. Small complaint for an enjoyable stay. Will definitely stay here again . I visit family there a few times a year, and this will be my go to place.
6644jonathanfThis is not a bad property at all. A little hard to get to and such when leaving 75, but I managed. The room was nice, clean and a good size. I found the breakfast to a bit lacking for a Hampton Inn. The pool was clean. Hallways were warm, but air seemed to be on.
Lleisha1212Arriving at 11 PM we were concerned when greeted by the overnight attendant through bullet glass and a microphone. We thought this can’t be good. However, when she explained that ladies were on alone overnight it made sense. Good employer. In the light of day the place was cute, well maintained and offered a decent continental breakfast. Staff was helpful and friendly. The courtyard was inviting and every time we returned to our room it had been cleaned, bed made, fresh towels and generally spruced up. Located only minutes from our family’s residence it was ideal for our stay. Well done Roadstar, we will definitely stay again. Thank you!

I had the worst hotel experience of my entire life with this hotel. I booked a room for one night on ******* and paid in full for the room. The day I was to check in, I called the hotel around 10:30 p.m. to see what was the latest time I could check in was. I was told by the front desk lady that I could check in anytime and that if it was after 11:00p.m that I would just need to dial 500 on the phone in the lobby and someone would come to check me in. I arrived at the hotel at 11:20 p.m and started dialing 500 in the phone in the lobby. For ONE HOUR I continued to call 500 on the phone as well as call the front desk phone number on my cell phone and no one EVER answered ! I was forced to go to a different nearby hotel and pay way more than I paid for this hotel, just to have somewhere to sleep for the night. When I got checked into the other hotel and got into my room, I began calling this hotel again and around 1:30 a.m. in the morning a female finally answered at the front desk ! I explained what happened and she said,” I’m sorry”, in the most uncaring, unbothered attitude ever. I asked her if she had any explanation as to why she didn’t answer the phone while I was outside calling for an hour and she simpley said,” No, I don’t have an answer and you can call in the morning and speak to the Manager about getting a refund.” This was by far the most ridiculous hotel experience I have ever had in my life and I would never EVER try to stay at this hotel and/or recommend anyone to stay here. The employees simply just do not care about customers, their job, customer service or really anything. The best part, I filed a complaint with ******* and I am still waiting on a refund ! Apparently, the Manager at this hotel has still not responded to the email that ******* sent requesting the refund! Again, worst hotel experience ever. It is absolutely disgusting that they would leave customers standing there for an hour calling the number to check in and no one ever answers the phone. My guess is that the employee either fell asleep or was on her own agenda doing something and left me and my family stranded and forced to go to a different hotel and pay way more for the night, after already paying in advance for this hotel. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!
Basic no frills but clean rooms and friendly staff. Car broke down and we got decent room with no reservation and the gal at the desk was very nice, answered questions and recommended restaurant. Decent.
