Put this hotel down to "Bad experience" all the recent reviews are accurate. The sea view room was well positioned, there was a musty smell as the old wooden rotting paint flaking sash windows were screwed tight closed, carpet's are threadbare in places. Yes its an old hotel that creaks and groans and smell its age. You get the impression that the staff had had so many complaints they too are feeling as decerped as the hotel. my room was not cleaned for 3 days, when i asked i was bluntly told the i did not hang the "hanger" outside the door, when i told her that there was no hanger, she said you should have read the note on the door!. i took breakfast one morning at 07:30, when i entered the room the lady on duty stared at me then openly glanced at her watch, there was no "good morning". When i checked out there was no "thank you" or have a safe journey, the customer service to a foot passenger leaves a lot to be desired. Yes stay at the hotel, you know what to expect and put it down to an experience as few hotels are as bad as this, but remember this is an expensive experience, only saving grace is the location and the breakfast, and that's all!

Very disappointed. Run down, poor service. We expected a classic hotel but this appears to be managed by a group called “bespoke hotels”. Messages through Trip.com were ignored, but we got some upselling emails. After a very long drive, we arrived at 2:45 and were told to wait until exactly 3pm to check in, which created a queue of people. Not enough car park spaces, so if you’re not earlyish, you will need to park elsewhere. Rooms are old and cheaply furnished. Elevator did not work at all, so if you have accessibility needs it would be impossible as there are many stairs and uneven floors. Shower was hard to use. Hotel is far overpriced for the quality. It really needs to be closed and refurbished to bring it back to its old glory. We did not eat here, instead went to much better places nearby. Oban itself is lovely and we had a great time, but let down by this hotel.

I had been so looking forward to to a hotel with a room overlooking the sea ass da stated un my booking
Not the nly was the room not overlooking the bay at Oban - but instead a brick wall instead .
After complaining - after a wait of over an hour we were shown to a room with a sea view - a much larger room with stunning views
This room was available for inly 1 if our 2 nights stays
However , this ‘superior room’ had rotting window frames , pealing walls along with water damage , curtains falling apart at places & not all electrical sockets were working
This had once been a grand hotel but now was more akin to something from FAULTY TOWERS
Oban has so many hotels to choose from .
The misleading inference that all bedrooms have stunning sea views is misleading at best - i would not recommend this establishment
The fact that ********** recommends this place is doubly disappointing & misleading
Trust in this app has also been dented

Attentive friendly staff ,room lovely and warm ,beds very comfortable hotel bit dated but otherwise very clean and welcoming perfect location in town and very affordable price

Everthing was fine until I checked out in the morning, when the receptionist, told me I had an outstanding payment of £28 to pay, due to the fact that my card had been declined. I pointed out that payment was made to trip.com, using my debit card over a month ago, and that the payment had been taken from my bank. The receptionist then called the manager, who informed me that the hotel had not received payment, because my payment card had been declined, luckily I had the receipt, which was clearly marked as paid. I also said that my card could not have been declined, as payment had been debited from my bank account, they then said they woud look in to the situation, as trip.com had not paid them.
The whole situation was very disturbing, and therefore I will not be using trip.com again

Cheap and basic but what you would expect for the price. Probably the cheapest accommodation in Oban so good if you just need a bed for the night. Staff were friendly and helpful but the room could do with a bit of work and a good clean.

A great location and a perfect view from the hotel room that we had. The service was good, a great breakfast and a nice pint of beer. All in all, this is a recommend and it did take us by surprise how decent it was for our one night stay.
