We are in the IHG club and have therefore stayed at other Indigo hotels. This was our first visit to Newcastle. We got off to a bad start because when I tried to phone the hotel prior to our arrival I was put into an endless loop which didn't get anywhere. I eventually had to contact Indigo Central who had the same problem getting through. Someone from the hotel did then contact me however and apologised that there were issues with the telephone system. Not a good first impression however. The other issue we had was with the room cards which I had to have re-calibrated a total of five times in the two days we were there. We were eventually told that if we kept them in the same pocket as a mobile phone or in its vicinity this would stop the card working. This is not an issue that we recall having had elsewhere. The room was modern and comfortable, as was the bathroom. We found the mattress to be on the hard side. There were plenty of plugs, there was adequate lighting and a room safe. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided as was a fridge with bottled water. We ate in the hotel on our first night and found the food to be very good. We had been confused that within the hotel itself there were signs referring to a Marco Pierre White restaurant, but it turned out that this had closed. The restaurant is now the Grainger. There was a good choice of self-service breakfast, and also a cooked menu. So the positives outweigh the negatives, and we would probably stay here again if we came back to Newcastle.

Cannot best the location!!!! Trolley push out of the doors and into the hotel ( or vice versa). No worry about taxi or transfer. Restaurant OK but suffers from the same ailment of so many…. Blinking awful coffee!!!! Also those awful mugs …. I have said before….. I have taken to bringing my own decent mug to drink out of.
I ate in the bar last time - similar menu ( same prices) but no booking of a table required. Just got to put up with TV with constant noise or sport……
They let me leave my luggage while I drop off or pick up a hire car…. About 10 minutes walk away.
Always my first choice.

The only downside is that the mattress is hard for me and the sheets are not very neat. Also there are no tissues provided in the room. For the price, I think it's great value for money and have nothing to complain about.
Eet10We're good stay. Hotel is super clean. They also provide free laundry room use. But laundry soaps u can purchase at the counter. Bfast was included....pretty good spread, but, same foods daily.
Hotel is spotless, n allows pets.
ผผู้เข้าพักWell what a little gem of a Hotel. Beautiful location right next to the Castle and near the Quayside. We had a lovely stay, the Staff were fantastic! So helpful and polite and friendly and very very professional. We felt very special and looked after. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our room was lovely. We didn't have any meals there except for breakfast which was tasty and there was plenty of options, the Staff in there again were very lovely and attentive. Saying all this a couple of little niggles the Hotel was so hot! To be fair the weather was beautiful when we were there but there is no air conditioning in the building. I do appreciate it is an older building and it's not always possible to install Air Con Units but a few fans scattered around would have made it a bit more bearable in the public areas . There was a fan provided in our bedroom which was very welcome as the sun facing the windows all day ! We also found the bed not very comfortable, the mattress was too hard for our liking but then this may suit other people so it's not a criticism really of the Hotel more our preference to have a softer mattress.
All in all we Would definitely go back to this hotel but I think I would go in the colder months.
Great location hotel for us whilst dropping additional things off to daughter who had recently started at Newcastle University. Friendly check in. Room nice size with White Company toiletries. We had a twin room (son and me). Beds were uncomfortable - felt like we were lying straight on the divan base and room was chilly. No noise (but it was a Monday!). Note the lift was tiny and three people and luggage/shopping overloaded it! Also, the parking at Dean Street was expensive, and payable via app so unclear about charges. The guest book in room does say it’s free between 5pm and 8am but this wasn’t clear at the car park so we paid for the duration of our stay. It’s also quite a hill from parking to hotel (if you struggle with mobility). Would probably stay again if price was right as location good.
ผผู้เข้าพักStayed in this hotel for a one night business trip stay over. If you’re looking for something with a little character this is a great place to stay . Central Newcastle , right next to the central train station and Metro entrance, a little bit of elegance. A lovely entrance foyer ( decorated with an amazing Christmas tree) with large chandeliers and helpful staff at check in. Finding my room was a bit of an adventure , but part of the charm of a historic building .
My room was clean , quiet , mini fridge , kettle and tea/coffee , tv , surprisingly good bathroom and comfortable bed.
I had a good English breakfast in the morning , and again the staff were lovely.
I thought it was very good value , and I would stay again .
Lovely hotel very clean Bed was super comfy When we arrived the room didn’t have a bath , the lady on reception went out of her way to get a room with a bath for us , Thankyou so much We did ask how much the dressing gowns were as it said you could purchase them , however we were told you couldn’t ,by one girl thenwhen we checked out we showed the receptionist the cards where it said we could purchase them and she apologised and then went to find out , they were £30 , Breakfast was a Buffett style with cereals pastries yoghurts and cooked breakfast , they even did me a cooked gluten free breakfast We have booked for my birthday on October Would definitely recommend
DDarrenStayed for four nights was a nice clean hotel in a good location thr parking was very tight and questionable but the staff had it very well organised. If I'm up that way again I would consider staying here again.
