Hotel Mar Bravo

Excellent beach hotel with super friendly staff and the perfect location! I would stay again!! The lovely lady at the front desk offered us complimentary water, coffee and pastries when we arrived. She also provided us with beach chairs and towels. It’s the consummate beach hotel.

The girl at the reception is rude and unable to perform her duties efficiently. One of the main criteria for us in choosing a hotel was the availability of parking, since we arrived by car. The hotel sent us information in advance that there are several parking spaces near the hotel where we can park the car, check into the hotel and then put the car in the parking lot. When we arrived, there was nowhere to park near the hotel, there were several places where barriers had been installed. It was not easy to find a place to stop, my sister went to the reception to find out about parking. The girl at the registration desk said that we should remove these barriers ourselves and park there. When my sister asked her to do this, she showed her dissatisfaction with all her appearance, but she removed only the part of the barrier (the rope) and left. It was still impossible to park the car, since the barriers with a concrete base occupied part of the parking space. My sister and her child had to move these heavy barriers themselves. When we finally parked and went into the hotel, I said in the reception that such a situation was simply unacceptable, to which I listened to a lot of rudeness on her part, and the reproach that everyone always understands that the barriers need to be removed, and this should be done by the client himself. This was the first time I encountered such rudeness in a hotel. It’s good that we had already traveled a lot around Portugal, talked with the Portuguese, and were already delighted with the country and its people, so we perceived this hotel simply as a bad exception, and the impression of the country remaind very good. The rooms also leave much to be desired. The armchair in the room was dirty and it was impossible to sit on it. The water in the sink did not drain, so we constantly had to turn off the tap, let the water drain, and then continue to wash. The flush button in the toilet was broken, so every time we had to press it several times to get the water to stop flowing. I don't recommend staying in this hotel if you don't want your mood to be spoild.

Loved this hotel. It is situated in the front and we had ocean views. The room was very comfortable. Everyone was very nice and anxious to help in any way. Ate in the restaurant at the hotel a few times, and it was delicious. Visited this town to go see the big waves, and it was a highlight of our trip.

Wonderful little boutique hotel. Our room and bath was small, but adequate for our three night visit. We upgraded to have a balcony room, which turned out perfect for us. We were able to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the square and the ocean every evening before dinner. The girls in reception were very friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff was also very helpful. The male waiters were also helpful and friendly. The restaurant is fabulous. Good breakfast each morning and the night we had dinner was delicious. We left our car in the parking garage, free, the entire time we were there. We walked everywhere, even up the pedestrian path to Sitio. We will definitely stay there again.

Don't be concerned, as I was, with this hotel's 3 star rating. It's a very good property. Squeaky clean, probably recently renovated property, and very nice, friendly ladies at the front desk, good, breakfast. Everything was above the 3 star rating expectations. Parking garage for this hotel's guests is within 5 minutes walking distance.

We stayed in Mar Bravo for a couple of nights early December and I must say, what a great experience it was. The room had a sea view and was big enough for the two of us with all conveniences including a safe, heating and AC with a plentiful supply of tea or coffee complementary from reception along with cakes and other edible goodies. The staff were fabulous and exeptionally helpful and could not do enough for you. The restarant attached to the Hotel was probably one of the best in Nazare, the selection of fresh seafood and local dishes was to die for and was reasonably priced. All in all, I would highly recommend the Hotel if you are staying in Nazare, the location, the staff and the restaurant made for an exceptionally enjoyable stay, thank you to all at Mar Bravo.

Hotel is right across street from beach on a square in tourist area of Nazaré. Room is small w a fantastic view of The Atlantic. We stayed in corner room with small balcony on ocean side and another on the square. You can enjoy the sounds of crashing waves. Hotel is above the restaurant, but restaurant noise was not a problem. Noise from street can be loud, but we were sleeping with balcony door open to hear the waves. Parking is a few blocks away and attached to their sister hotel, You can pull in front of the hotel on the street that runs parallel to the ocean to check in. You may have to hop out and undo the ropes holding the space to pull in. Great location and value.

Our original booking across the plaza was bogus, lucky for us, because Mar Bravo had a suite available, complete the K sized bed, fridge, basic kitchen set up and it was clean and the appointments were top shelf.... all for a very reasonable cost. The staff was professional, friendly and very accommodating. Special recognition to Super- staffer Sofia, One of the true jewells of Portugal.

If you want the sounds of the surf outside your window and a view of crashing waves then you're in the right place. This smallish hotel with an understated and excellent restaurant was comfortable all round. The rooms aren't spacious but comfortable and well appointed. The upstairs reading room was great on a rainy day. Sofia at the desk most days was helpful and personable. Just out the doors and you're on the beach and seawalk. Lot's of good places to eat with comfortable in and out seating. But do come back to the Mar Bravo's restaurant for delicious seafood. Easy access to the bus system as the funicular was under repair.
