Another great stay at The Pilgrim, our fourth visit. A wonderful welcome, really friendly staff & very good breakfast with lots of selection. Saturday night was a bit noisy due to there being birthday parties but the noise died at midnight. A special mention must go to Sarah the breakfast waitress, she was truly wonderful, a real ray of sunshine in the mornings. She really was the icing on the cake of our stay! Even though The Pilgrim is situated very close to a busy main road the hotel itself is an oasis of peace, a great place to stay.
I live in Hereford and use the coffee lounge regularly, the cakes and drinks are lovely, whether it’s a fruit tea or lovely coffee, they serve a selection of cakes and cruffins it’s comfortable seating is so relaxing and perfect for a restful hot drink and treat. Also having a very good wifi in the lounge is so useful. Due to this I recently arranged an afternoon tea for 12 people which we had in the dining room, one of us has an egg allergy so chose to have a vegan one , she was very impressed, one actually chose to just have a cake and drink the other 10 of us had classic afternoon tea. It was lovely, we had refills of tea even extra clotted cream, we had 3 toddlers on top of this and all were supplied with a high chair seated at the table with us, we did pre book all of this and communication was great. All the table laid waiting, I am so pleased I chose the green dragon, every one of us said how relaxed it was , how lovely the staff were and how much they enjoyed the food. It’s so good to support and enjoy using a traditional local hotel. I’m sure we will all return . Thank you
We stayed here for only 1 night on a whistle stop visit with our daughters to Wales and Ross On Wye. From the moment we arrived, Steve and Georgina the owners made us feel so welcome, explaining about breakfast, meals at night and our room. Our daughters stayed at the local Premier Inn and we stayed here in room 7. Georgina showed us up and said we had the best view, she wasn’t wrong. It overlooked the River Wye and you could see the town in the distance, what a view to wake up to in the morning. We went to the local pub just up the road called the White Lion, sat outside looking over the water and it was so beautiful with the Swans and Geese. We decided to eat at the Castle Lodge as it had good reviews on Tripadvisor, those reviews didn’t lie, we all finished our plates, my Salmon was probable the best I’ve tasted, well done mine hosts. The puddings, especially the Eton Mess were huge and delicious, blackberry and apple crumble also so tasty. Steve was funny and very friendly, we all staggered back to our rooms fit to burst. Our room was very clean, all refurbished, high end toiletries, a fan, tea, coffee, biscuits, all very thoughtful. The shower was excellent as well. We had a nice chat with Steve as we left, our only downside was that we only stayed 1 night. Thank you for our stay, we wish you all the best for the future.
