The travel hack nobody talks about — student residences in summer  When universities break for summer, their residences open up to travellers — and the locations, value, and facilities will genuinely surprise you. Campus1 Mtl in downtown Montreal is a perfect example. The room was spotlessly clean, common areas had a relaxed vibe with a massive projector TV, and paid games like pool, foosball, and table tennis. But the real showstopper? Breakfast. A proper generous spread — yoghurts, cereals, hot food, Starbucks coffee with alternative milks, and halal and non-halal meat options. Genuinely impressive. Location, cleanliness, and service all hit 5/5. Just don’t lose your key — it’ll cost you C$30. Student residences in summer are now firmly on my travel radar. 🎓✨

Remember to get the hair dryer at the front desk

Good location, subway + mall is less than a 7 min walk. The club street, st Laurent is also about a 16 min walk so lots of things are near by

It is a simple school residence with no TV, fridge, electric kettle, hair dryer, glasses, clothes hangers and lugguge storage. If you arrive before the check in time, only the security guard is on duty and no check in procedures can be made. You may consider depositing the luggage at another hotel two blocks away from the school residence with charges required. The storage fee for each item is $8. No housekeeping during our 4 nights' stay. Towels will be changed every 3 days. The terribe experience occurred when the toilet was clogged during our first night's stay. The staff provided you with a small pump and you had to solve the problem by yourself. Do not expect any assistance rendered to you! Worse of all, there was no vacant room available that we could change to another room. The staff refused to refund the room rate to us if we moved to another hotel. It happened that there was Formula 1 match during our stay and it was extremely difficult to find alternative accomodation. The only solution was to use the public toilets near the front desk. It was extremely unbearable to stay in such an awful and smelly room for one night. Horrible experience, bad customer service, never come back!

Basically, this place is for campus students to stay so pretty different comparing to standard hotel or AirBNB. I don't see a hair dryer, kleenex box, coat hanger (but you hav closet), kettle and coffee set, etc... But the place is nice and clean. They don't store your luggage before CI/after CO, they will introduce you their parter doing storage service, cost me 8$ after pertnership discount which seem to be fair in this city. I'm glad I could stay here with last minute booking although it was in middle of F1 weekend.

Rooms are very clean and beds are comfortable. Breakfasts are not fancy but solid.

The location is honestly 10/10. It’s very safe. Don’t expect high quality food for the morning breakfast. Am not even sure they serve real eggs. The parking is right under the building. But it was very full I had to wait hours before getting a parking spot.
