I’m not sure if all hotels in Italy are like this, but this hotel genuinely left us with an amazing impression. The service was exceptional, and the breakfast selection was excellent. We are two wedding photographers travelling to Italy for work. For the first two nights, we stayed at a hotel arranged by our clients outside of Milan, but once we returned to Milan, we specifically chose this hotel for our final night before flying back to the UK. Even though we only stayed for one night, the experience was fantastic. First of all, the location was very convenient. It was easy to get here from the airport by metro, which was especially helpful after a busy wedding trip carrying a lot of equipment. What impressed us the most was the service. We arrived quite early, before check-in time, so we left our luggage at reception and went out for the day. When we came back around 5pm, all of our luggage had already been delivered to our room. This is actually something we rarely experience in most hotels in the UK, so we really appreciated the attention to detail and hospitality. Btw, they even offer welcome drinks 🥰 The breakfast was also wonderful, with both hot food options and a great continental selection. Everything tasted lovely. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again next time we visit Milan.

I usually stay at the Florence Calimala, the one in Milan is bigger and the rooms are slightly different, still very nice. Gym and terrace are great and the staff is friendly. The minibar is free of charge and there is a nice bar on the 5th floor. Perfectly located in porta Venezia.

Best choice in Milan

The location is in the edge of Milan so it very close to the airport but a decent walk away from tourist hotspots. It was ideal for my work trip as I just needed somewhere peaceful to sleep after a long day’s travel and before a second one to follow. The one thing I needed was sleep. I got excellent service, a gorgeous room, private balcony. It was perfection. Except for the sleep! Past midnight the whirring, banging and vibrating of the floor polishing machine begins and doesn’t stop until 3am. I gave up trying to reason with the manager who was so lovely but couldn’t do anything about the process. By 5am they drag heavy furniture back in place, then the breakfast service starts getting prepared, followed by the bellowing of delivery drivers outside your balcony. The dream became a nightmare. Staff were aware, manager was informed, feedback noted. Nothing happened. Safe to say, I will not be returning nor recommending if it’s a good night’s sleep you’re looking for.

Calimala is a new hotel, opened in July 2025. The room is very well designed, same as the reception area. One can park the car just opposite the hotel, quite convenient though the parking fee of 41euro is quite high! Breakfast and bar/swimming pool are set on the 2 top floors so that guests can enjoy the view and outdoor, a smart consideration indeed.
