La Maison de l'Etang

"The establishment is located on the outskirts of Floing in North eastern France about 20 minutes from the Belgium border.The setting is very rural with a large pond on the property. The pond is a refuge for resident ducks and other birds. Fields of orchards and meadows with horses and cows surround the property. It is a quiet retreat in nature, well managed by attentive owners who will go out of their way to make the guess comfortable. There is plenty of parking on the property and all the rooms have private entrances. A separate communal room with kitchenette is also available to the guess. Breakfast is served in the main house, family style with local jams and breads."

Les Orchidées , Hôtel & Restaurant

"What a horrible little hotel! The tiniest of rooms with little or no amenities, and towels that have seen better days. The beds are uncomfortable, as are the bedclothes. The entire building is in dire need of a major cash injection to repair the faults and bring it into the 21st century. I cannot comment on the quality of food on the premises because my wife and I ate elsewhere. We didn't feel like throwing any more money at this joint than what we'd already overpaid for the shoebox of a room."

"This was an absolute diamond find! Booked for one night on our journey south, we rocked up on bikes on a very hot day - before we had our gear off the beers were on the table! Accommodation was spot on, very clean and all we needed. Unfortunately one of the bikes had a problem that warranted a 2nd overnight stay which was accommodated without any issue. The manager (didn’t catch his name) was outstanding calling around local garages and found us some help that rectified the problem and got us on our way. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed but there are plenty of eateries in town. Overall we’d definately stay here again. "

"Location is on the middle of the countryside. There is a huge golf place at the hotel and I think that's also one of the main attraction. Check in is usually until 6pm, but the host was very nice and received me late night at 10pm and made a little introduction tour. It's very warm and human welcome. There is no breakfast but they have a little commune kitchen and a workout room with sauna. I came for business, but I think if you aim to come for a little getaway in the area I would totally recommend this place."

"Stopped here en route to Italy by car, very much off the beaten track. Lovely countryside location, very peaceful. Pleasant welcome. good room with all facilities, bed was adjustable and very comfortable. Decor a little dated, but this is part of the charm of choosing a rural hotel. Excellent meal, reasonably priced; lady who served us was especially nice. Good breakfast. Would definitely come back."

Domaine de la Maison Forte

"We had an overnight stop at the Maison Forte on our way to the Vosges mountains. Céline‘s place is really beautiful, the buildings and the grounds and we were looked after really well from the moment we got there when her son Victor showed us to our room and then bought us drinks on the terrace. The room, Madeleine, was very comfortable, immaculately clean and the bedding and towels spotless. There were 9 people staying the night we were there and Céline very kindly made us dinner, which was really nice, followed by local cheese and a tart made by her son, which was excellent. Breakfast to was very very nice. Thank you for looking after us and being a great host. Andrew and Debbie"
