"An old hotel that was renewed, but... not a very good job. Hotel crew: excellent attitude and service. Hotel infrastructure: ummm......Location is very good, close to the beach and on a populated street. There are many shops and food & drink places day or night. You have a garage to leave your car if you like, at a moderate cost, parking underground. While the hotel is close to the beach (about 2 or 3 blocks), there's a catch: if you want to stay at the public beach, you must walk many stairs downward on the way to the beach, AND you must climb the same stairs upward when you come back to the hotel. Besides, the public beach is about three more blocks from there. In our case, we are a senior couple and that's not pleasent, you can figure it out. The room have air conditioned and a safe, which is good, but the bathrooms are missing a hairdryer, a shelf to put soap and shower elements, even no place to hang the towels, and are very small, at the point that the bathroom door collides with the toilet when you open it... Some bathrooms have bidet, some don't. Our room seemed to be vacant for some time, so there were some traces of dust and a couple of small spiders trying to escape from us. Bed sheets were clean, but they looked like they were used for some decades, badly wore. The rooms are small and not very comfortable, beds are very close one to the other with minimum space to move in between. Clearly it's an old building, I'd say from the fifties or sixties which were renewed, or more exactly, patched in an attempt to bring them to the 21st century. Breakfast was basic. Coffee, milk, artificial juice, cereal, water, bread, medialunas, butter, marmalade, fruits are absent, just one or two oranges cut out in slices, as thin as a paper strategically layed on a tray. The breakfast place is small but somehow nice. You can have breakfast from 7:30 AM to 10 AM. Once more, the issues we found are not attributed to the hotel crew, which are very kind and serviceable, but to the hotel redesign and scarce comfort. In summary, if you're looking just for a place to stay in a good location (Playa Grande is one of the nicest places in Mar del Plata, full of beautiful houses and streets, and shops) for some few days and you're not very demanding, it's for you. But if you want a very comfortable and nice place to spend your nights & days, well...you'll be probably disappointed."

"After 30 years of paying maintenance fees, it has deteriorated to the point where it's impossible to visit. It offers no services whatsoever and is getting worse all the time. They don't even respond to complaints. If you don't want to ruin your stay in Mar del Plata, don't visit. It's a complete scam. They denied us our apartment. They put us in a cabin outside, and there was no heating. They moved us to another one, and it was raining inside. I'm still waiting for a response from them since June. Are they trying to scam everyone who bought in good faith?"

"DON’T STAY OR EAT HERE if you value customer service and want edible food. I asked for a reservation for their Christmas Eve dinner as a guest at the hotel giving them my details. The charge was $115.000 pesos each which is already a very expensive dinner. When I later enquired about the time for my reservation, the team told me that the reservation hadn’t been processed. Not sure why as the last message I received from the team was ‘we go ahead’ when translated into English with no further messages from them or requests for information. It then turns out that the price had dramatically increased to $145.000 pesos! It wasn’t made clear that it had increased and it’s not my local currency. In my panic to not have a Christmas reservation (which hadn’t been processed due to their incompetence) I paid it. What a mistake. They have not explained or apologised why my initial reservation and quote couldn’t be honoured and have been extremely rude and unreasonable. I have never stayed anywhere which would refuse such a reasonable request from a paying guest. I have experienced better service at 2 star hotels than I have here. I had clearly tried to make a reservation at the prior price. To make things worse, the food wasn’t worth the money. I couldn’t eat the main course or the dessert as they were so awful. The steak was honestly the worst I have ever eaten anywhere in the world (as pictured). I struggled through the small part that was edible because I knew how much money it had cost. The buffet courses were better quality but with no labels I wasn’t sure what anything was which was a real shame. Eggs at breakfast were also inedible so I don’t think the bad food quality is restricted to the holiday dinners unfortunately. They don’t care about the guests who stay there or your experience. They just see you as money machines. It is not 4* quality. I would go elsewhere."

Unfortunately my wallet was stolen late yesterday afternoon with my drivers license included.... so I was unable to pick up our rental car to make the trip. Román Brutti from the Reservations Office at Hotel Costa Galana was very understanding and worked with us on the late cancellation. I am so appreciative and look forward to coming back to this wonderful country again soon and will definitely book a stay at Hotel Costa Galana when we return!"

"Small rooms. The bathroom was leaking water, we notified the manager, she took note and told us that a plumber was going to come, something that never happened and the bathroom flooded. The closet had no door and the cleaning service entered even through the door. The window was full of pigeon poop and even eggs, we couldn't open the window because of the disgusting smell and the pigeons, the air conditioning didn't work. The mattress is spring-loaded and has a point that sticks out that punctured our legs. My husband was stuck in the elevator for more than half an hour and the buzzer doesn't work. They didn't even apologize and if it hadn't been for another guest, no one would have helped him. The pool with dirty water. We asked for the complaints book and they told us they don't have it. We went to rest and we felt that the hotel is not prepared to receive people. The only good thing is the breakfast and the location. We visited other hotels that cost the same and are a thousand times nicer and closer to the beach. The photos with which the hotel is promoted are not current, much less the games room. There is a lot of maintenance missing for the price they charge! Very bad experience and waste of money because we couldn't rest!"
