We wanted to spend the night here while on a long drive home from the south of France to the Netherlands. We called around 11:30 PM to inquire about availability for our family of 3. The person answering the phone said yes, no problem and confirmed the price we saw online. When we arrived, we had to reserve a room through a machine at the entrance. We entered ”3 persons”, but then the system offered us only a twin room. The person who had answered the phone was there, he told us he was only the security guard and not the receptionist. He said he supposed there would be a third bed in the room, since we had entered ”3 persons”. However, there was no way to check, because only after paying at the machine we would receive the room number and code to access the room. As it was midnight by then, we booked and paid the room anyway, found out that indeed, it had only two beds. The security guard could not care less about this situation, did not offer any sort of help or solution. Then we took our camping mat - which we luckily had in our car - and one of us slept on the floor. The next morning we went to talk about this at the reception. We were told, in an unfriendly way without any understanding for the unpleasantness of the whole situation, that the security guard had no access to the booking system so he could not tell us about availability on the phone. And that for 3 people we simply should have booked 2 rooms. Which would have cost 160 euros, not really our idea of a budget stay... Aside from this bad experience, the room was okay (for 2 persons), good beds, OK bathroom. We were not happy that it was not possible to switch off the air conditioning, and there was traffic noise in the morning, but this is inherent to booking a hotel near the highway so we did not mind about this.
A good stop over hotel, not too far from the motorway. Clean and comfortable. Coffee facilities. Shower a good size. Parking secure at night. Receptionists friendly, check in speedy. They had suggestions for a place to eat in the evening and spoke good English as well as French. Would stay here again. We booked though the originals hotel website.

Bon petit dejeuner

MMaurice95This is one of many Grand Old Hotels that Best Western has refurbed in Europe. This was an unplanned stop with no advance reservation. We arrived late in the day, tired, grumpy, and were treated very kindly. Desk staff had good English. The desk gave us our Best Western discount! Breakfast was an additional E13 each and secure parking was E18. Many hotels in Europe charge for parking. The room was big, nice, clean and well equipped. There were no wash cloths but the best towels of the trip. There was AC with its own thermostat, a safe, kleenex and mini bar. There was a lift and then a bit of a walk to our room. Hotel has access from underground parking area. This is a typical BW rehab of an older property that preserves as much original charm as possible while providing modern conveniences. Breakfast was the typical lay out of hot and cold, the only disappointment sub par coffee. Don't let the exterior appearance fool you, this is a very nice hotel. Parking was very secure. Don't be intimated by the photo or the ramp. This arrangement is typical in France and easily done with a little practice. Perhaps we're too picky but we had a hard time finding dinner. Maybe we should have wandered further from the hotel. Our Domino pizza was disappointing because it tasted too much like USA pizza and not like European pizza. We would gladly stay here again.
Ideal for a 1-night stay on our way home from Southern France. You’ll have to drive about 10 min after taking the exit. Parking space is scarce, especially on Saturdays, but there’s a parking lot at about 5 min walking distance. Location is super nice near the river. Rooms are really small but the bathroom’s nicely refurbished since the first time we came there around 8 years ago. I particularly liked the shower. We had difficulty getting checked-in (the hotel uses DIY check-in after 9 or 10 pm) when we arrived at 11 pm. There’s a phone number you can call, but it’s quite hidden in the corner. They should communicate that more clearly. Also, when booking online after 10 pm via a broker (e.g. Agoda) you will always have to call that number, in order to be able to get access to your room via the DIY check-in. I’d recommend they communicate that more clearly either at the entrance or upon making the reservation online. We spent at least 10 min trying to check-in ourselves but in vain. Not easy when you’re extremely tired from a long drive. We had a minor hygiene issue when we arrived in our room, but I told them the morning after (and showed pics) and they made up for it in the way it should be, so next time we’d be near Mâcon, we would probably stay there again since the beds are quite good, and that’s what counts the most.
