We had stayed at another property when passing through Louisville on previous visits but this time we decided to look for something away from the downtown area. Always a fan of Springhill Suites, we picked this in the airport area and were pleased we did. The staff, both evening and morning, was very welcoming and seemed happy we were there. When we asked for restaurant suggestions, we received a full sheet of options. Our room was spacious and clean. The morning breakfast fare was normal for a Springhill Suites, meaning there was plenty to eat and it was good. I woke up early and walked around the area on a pleasant morning, coming away with the feeling the location was a safe one. We will be back.
Staff at check in and check out were all very professional, warm and friendly. We rode the shuttle to/from Churchill Downs and we were very happy to have the wonderful drivers Charles and I’m can’t remember the other driver, grey haired, both were friendly and caring. Very convenient for the Derby. Thank you !! Our room on the 7th floor was clean and quiet. It had mini microwave, mini fridge and Keurig. We didn’t use but it was convenient and everything looked clean. The bed was soft and comfy. Complimentary coffee in lobby was good and appreciated. If ever in the area will stay at this lovely hotel again.
I stayed with my fiancé as a getaway to some health issues he had earlier this summer and for a change of scenery. Beautiful exterior and lobby. It appears they have either local or vintage art throughout. The rooftop bar and resteraunt had a great ambiance and beautiful views of the city. We enjoyed the happy hour and other small bites and the food was fantastic. Based on these things, I expected the rooms to match the charm. I was so disappointed however that they didn’t. There’s room for improvement as far as some additional art decor in the room and the lighting is terrible. In the evening, the dim lights make you feel claustrophobic and a little like you’re in prison (eek!). The beds were comfortable and pillows were great, so a few changes could really turn things around. I think the biggest issue this hotel will face in the long term is upkeep and cleanliness. For being only opened a year, it’s starting to feel run down. There are chip and loss of paint on the walls, and the carpets have stains throughout. I’d fire the manager and hire a new director of housekeeping. In the bar upstairs, one of the lounge benches was missing about a yard of fabric and was shredded so badly it was embarrassing. You could see the foam. The showers have a half of a door, so water easily can make the bathroom floors wet. I’m wondering if this is causing water damage, since on the ceilings is appears that it may be. Also, they don’t accept all major credit cards, which their website didn’t indicate. When I checked in, they shared that their system is “finicky” with Discover card. They were nice enough to extend a 50 dollar credit for the hassle, however. Overall, If you’re in town, come for a drink or dinner, but stay at the Omni or a Marriot.
DO NOT STAY HERE! We checked in Friday and Saturday morning my husband who is a 4 year stroke survivor with aphasia and apraxia went down to the lobby to get coffee and take an outside break. The front desk staff demanded to see his keys to the room and when he had trouble communicating with them they accused him of being a vagrant. Before calling our room to verify with me that he in fact was a guest they called the police. Needless to say we packed up and left. Completely disgusting!
The location was great, right off the highway and a block away from the bourbon district. The hotel was clean, rooms were clean, staff was friendly and accommodating. The pool was small but clean and updated. We never heard any noise outside of our room with the exception of the ice machine because we were directly in front of it, but we never heard anyone in the halls or through the walls. Beds we're clean and comfy. My one minor gripe was the low water pressure in the shower. Parking at first was a bit confusing because the entrance is not marked, and the lot is small, but once you know where it's at, it's no big deal. We would absolutely recommend this hotel!
CChristine CDuring our recent stay at 21c Museum Hotel in Louisville, we had some positive experiences but also encountered significant issues that completely marred our visit. On the positive side, the food and cocktails at Proof on Main were fantastic. The staff at the restaurant as well as the the friendly doormen, contributed positively to our stay. We also appreciated the art gallery, a highlight from our previous visit, which once again added a unique touch to our experience. Our room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed, meeting our expectations. However, upon checking in, we discovered that the perks we were entitled to through our booking with a travel advisor, such as breakfast, property credit, and room upgrade, were not initially applied. The front desk eventually resolved these issues by providing breakfast vouchers and confirming our upgrade, though the lack of initial acknowledgment was disconcerting. Additionally, when we checked out, the property credit was not applied which added our frustration after the experiencing the peculiar situation below. Unfortunately, a troubling incident involving my missing purse from our hotel room overshadowed our stay. Despite our assurances that it was likely taken by accident with the linens, the hotel's handling of the situation was extremely poor. We spent considerable time dealing with the front desk, cancelling credit cards, and worrying about the lost purse, which significantly affected our trip. Although the purse was eventually returned, the staff's reluctance to take responsibility and the persistent issues with our booking perks left us with a negative impression of the 21c Hotel brand. Over a week later, I still have not received a response from management about our experience. We will not be back nor will we recommend 21C to others.
