We booked 3 nights at the coyote mountain lodge during the 4th of July for our first family vacation. The accommodations that we booked were the King Suite. The balcony with the mountain view, we believed would be perfect for our 2 boys to watch the Elk and Deer graze. When we got there, my husband checked in while I and the boys waited in the car. The ”suite” they attempted to give us was room 220. On their website, the suites that we booked are numbered 701 - 705. My husband instantly knew something was wrong. After looking at the ”suite”, my husband went back to the front desk. It was not what we booked. They said that there was a ”over booking” issue. They offered to put us in the Condo for the night, with the promise that we could move into our actual accommodations the next day after people checked out. Our night in the condo was wonderful. The private balcony had a beautiful view. The boys enjoyed all the space that it provided. The hotel's breakfast consisted of yogurt being left out on the counter, mini boxes of cereal and packaged muffins. Disappointing start of the morning. The next day, my husband went back to the front desk and talked with the hotel manager. They informed him that the ”suite 220” was the only accommodation available. As it was the 4th of July and we couldnt afford to stay at another hotel and the management knew that. We were forced to move to room 220. A cramped ”suite” with views of the pool and highway in the back and views of a rooftop in the front. When you pay over $900 for a hotel room, you expect what you pay for. We paid for mountain views and space! This was a bait and switch and to put in plainly, Fraud! They have offered a half refund for our stay. Still wanting on it to this day. Save yourself the money and find some other place to stay. This place is run by crooks.
Hotel was very clean and fresh. The room was spacious and the 2 king beds were wonderful. We didn't use the indoor pool but was across from our room and it was so nice! Very clean and inviting. We had a great view of the mountains from our balcony as well.
Checked in and went to the room. The room had not been cleaned, dirty towels in bathroom, trash not emptied, bed not made. Offered another room but no TV. They came up and brought clean towels and made the bed with clean sheets. Could not use shower because it was not cleaned. I am a DIAMOND Member and this is completely unacceptable. I never heard from the manager or owner after my stay.
I first stayed in a cabin at the Y Camp fifty years ago. This year we returned with my son and his family. The cabins are much upgraded, but the experience is just as good. More mobile of us enjoyed several guided hikes. Kids spent a lot of time making ceramics and bracelets. Youngest loved the firestarter class so much he did it twice. Great place to stay with a family. Lots to do and the kids can walk to their activities without fear. We love the Y Camp.
Priced better than nearby competitors. Lobby and rooms were clean and no bad smells. Fridge and microwave in room. Staff was friendly. Water pressure was awesome. Automatic pancake maker at touch of a button, but eggs and sausage were precooked and in fridge to microwave. Side doors wouldn't unlock so always had to go back through lobby after going to car.
TTrek44992782514 Admittedly, this was a busy time to book (CSU family weekend/homecoming), which is why I booked (or thought I did) almost two months early. We drove 8 hours from Omaha and arrived to spend time with our freshman daughter then decided to check in to our hotel room at roughly 9:30 pm. The place was a little run down but looked ok for sleep and to enjoy a hot breakfast (or so we thought...side note; the website says breakfast is included - IT IS NOT). When you get there the front desk has a sign that acknowledges that fact and says the website is indeed incorrect and there is no breakfast included. The sign also says they are working to fix that mistake on the website. Apparently, in 2023, updating a website is hard work because the website still says you get a free breakfast. I was slightly alarmed when I walked up the check-in area because there were multiple people stacked up to get in, all looking fairly upset. Once it was my turn, I was told that there were no rooms left and that they overbooked multiple people (perhaps this room went to the poor person who got charged multiple hundreds of dollars per night at the gouge rate instead of me, who booked in advance - shady s&^t man). Then I was told that there was an option for me to get a room - they were going to give me a voucher for another property and I would be honored there. No problem except - THE PROPERYT WAS TWO HOURS AWAY!!! I don't know about you, but after driving 8 hours to get there and having toured campus and other areas all day, the prospect of driving two hours away (at 9:30 pm) and then two hours back the next morning, multiple times over the weekend was not very appealing to me. This is where I was told there was nothing else they could do for me (they hadn't actually done anything yet). I declined the voucher and was told, ”don't worry, we're not going to charge you for the room.” HA!!! Now we enter scramble mode. As stated, this was a busy weekend so finding a hotel room was not easy. We called around many hotels and finally found one room, which we booked for the only night they had available (which meant we also had to find a room for the next night too). Cost - $400 per night for each hotel = $800 for two nights and a nice move from one hotel to the other in the middle of the weekend. I booked two months early for a bill that would have been ~$250. So, because some hotel chain doesn't understand what a ”reservation” actually means (anyone watch Seinfeld:)), I'm out about $550. This is of course, unless Guest Services for Choice Hotels decides to do something (something else I get do...call and argue with a hotel chain and deal with that). No one at the actual hotel was willing to do anything ”else” for us - just sent us packing. Thanks Clarion, Fort Collins for making what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend enjoying family a pain in the A%$...be warned anyone looking to stay here.
