The hotel was in a good location for exploring Porto and the staff were very friendly and helpful, however the room which we were given initially (214) was incredibly noisy in the early hours of the morning, causing us to lose most of our first two nights' sleep. We subsequently found out that this was likely to be due to people going to a Karaoke Bar just down the road, shouting and singing, mostly in English! The staff were helpful and moved us to the 3rd floor and this alleviated the noise problem, however the room was much smaller, with a smaller bed, and worse wi-fi reception (no wi-fi reception with our phones). I do understand that they did their best and that the hotel was busy. We were so tired we were just glad to be away from the noise, but it was a faff packing and unpacking again. There was little in the way of communal area, just a small bar tucked away round the corner which seemed little used and not staffed. You would have needed to ask reception to come and serve drinks. One more thing, there are no in-room facilities for tea/coffee. This was explained and we understood that we could ask for tea/coffee downstairs instead. On one afternoon we had some nice cappuchinos, which we enjoyed, but the one I ordered on the afternoon before we left, was charged to our room, a charge which was taken off when I questioned it. Maybe what they meant was that you could request a kettle, etc for your room, but it needs clarifying. We found places to eat and drink nearby and particularly recommend the Lazy Breakfast Club, not cheap but very tasty and interesting combinations, also very popular so tables are shared.
