What a wonderful find! This perfectly-located, historic and beautiful hotel met all of our needs for a short family trip to Amsterdam. We were in a family canal-view room (Room 31), which had a king bed downstairs and 3 twins in a cozy loft upstairs. This was great for us (college-aged kids), but really young kids might struggle with the steep stairs. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious, and even nicer than the pictures make it look. Beds are comfortable. The hotel is in two historic buildings with no elevator, so please do let them know if stairs are a challenge for you as a higher-floor room would be difficult. We arrived in the morning and appreciated being allowed to check in early. The cafe in the hotel offers coffee, snacks, and a small bar and is a great place to sit to relax. The included breakfast was delicious and comprehensive -- eggs, meats, cheeses, pastries, cereal, yogurt, etc. The front desk was staffed with friendly, helpful people always willing to answer our questions. The hotel is just a quick walk from the Rokin metro stop (one stop from the Central Train Station), in the midst of plenty of shopping, restaurants and within an easy walk or metro ride to museums. We took advantage of the hotel's offered discount on a 1-hour canal cruise and loved seeing Amsterdam from the water on our first day. All 5 of us would happily return to Hotel des Arts next time we are in Amsterdam.
