My family & i had a good stay here. Booked a family room and it is suprisingly spacious. Close to shops and restaurants. Parking off premise but thats ok bcs you only need to download the app and pay for rm0.60cents/hour which is very affordable. Overall, it’s worth the price
Everything was fine but please vear with the on going reno works going on. Will be better if they provide some clear channels on the tv. Been here few times and always be my first choice.

✅ Main Advantages
1. Very Strategic Location
The hotel is located right in the heart of Kuala Terengganu city, near Kampung Cina / Jalan Kg Cina — making it very convenient to reach Pasar Payang, souvenir shops, dining spots, or just take a relaxing walk around.
Many guests have mentioned that the location is “hard to beat” and “super convenient.”
So if you “like staying here because it’s close to Pasar Payang,” this hotel definitely meets that expectation.
2. Charming Boutique Design & Atmosphere
The hotel features a vintage/colonial Malay–Chinese (Peranakan) style with distinctive decorative and furniture details.
Many guests appreciate the beautiful and “Instagrammable” interior design and room decor.
3. Decent Rooms & Good Value for Money
While it’s not a luxury hotel, most guests feel that for the location and price, it’s a great choice. For example, the “Superior King” room starts from around RM190+ during normal seasons.
Reviews generally mention that the rooms are clean and comfortable, providing a satisfying experience overall.
⸻
⚠️ Disadvantages / Things to Note
1. Room Size
Some guests mentioned that the rooms are rather small, especially for two to three people or if you have large luggage.
So, if you’re traveling with your wife and two young children, it’s better to choose a larger room (like the “Deluxe Family”) for more space.
2. Facilities & Minor Details Could Be Improved
• Some reviews said the air conditioning control could be better — the room felt warm even at low settings.
• Limited parking: the hotel provides open-air parking, but spaces are quite few.
• Some rooms have slightly quirky layouts, such as glass bathrooms or sinks placed outside the bathroom.
• A few guests felt that staff service could be more friendly (though this is not a common issue).
3. Family Rooms
If you’re staying with young children, confirm the “Family” room type to ensure it’s suitable — for example, check if there’s any glass wall in the bathroom. Make sure the room setup is family-friendly.
⸻
🎯 Who Is It Suitable For?
• Ideal for couples or small families who want the best central location and the ability to walk easily to markets, shops, and eateries.
• Less suitable if you need a large space, luxury facilities, or ample parking — in that case, other hotels might be more appropriate.
⸻
📝 Tips for Your Stay
• Book a larger room (e.g. Deluxe or Family) if traveling with family for better comfort.
• Arriving early or late? Check parking first — you may need to unload your luggage before parking.
• If possible, request a room with a window, as some reviews mentioned that “windowless rooms” can feel stuffy.
• Bring light clothing or t-shirts, as even with air-conditioning, some rooms felt a bit warm.
• When exploring Pasar Payang or Kampung Cina on foot, go in the morning or late afternoon to avoid traffic and parking congestion.

✅ Conclusion
In summary, The Payang Hotel is an excellent choice if your top priority is staying very close to Pasar Payang and downtown Kuala Terengganu, while enjoying a charming boutique atmosphere.
With a bit of compromise on room size and a few minor facilities, you’ll still get a comfortable and practical stay in a highly convenient location.
Our check-in and checkout experiences were smooth and easy. Arrived on 7th January after booked a room, unfortunately it was fully booked. Came back on the next day and the receptionist was very polite in explained the hotel rules regarding no smoking, where to park your car, also what time are the check-out time.
They also provide surau for Muslim travellers to pray, so it's muslim friendly hotel to be chosen. During your stays, these hotel are near to several melayu restaurants which is 5 minutes driveway from the hotel. Everything is fine for me. Thank you for the hospitality given especially to the hotel staff, because of this pleasant experience I'll definitely recommend it to my others colleague.
I stayed at Grand Continental Hotel Kuala Terengganu and overall the experience was acceptable. However, the parking facilities are very limited, which caused some inconvenience during my stay. The Hotel design very old need renovation
The management should consider providing alternative parking options for guests. It would also be helpful to have a designated parking area at the back of the hotel. Additionally, implementing a policy of allowing only one car per room could help manage the limited parking space more effectively.
Good Location. Restaurant all around. The hotel has a lift which is convenient when you have a luggage.
The room is clean and quite. Quite is important for me and I enjoy. The bathroom is clean but traditional style. It's cheap you cannot expect high standard but it is very good for the price.
The window was inside the building so not the best but I don't care the view it's only shower and sleep that matter.

Stylish, family-friendly stay in a great location!
Had a really pleasant experience here. The overall design is modern, clean, and very calming — especially loved the soft neutral tones and aesthetic interior. The space feels well-maintained and thoughtfully curated.
One standout feature is the in-room kids’ play area, which is such a thoughtful touch for families. It’s clean, safe, and beautifully designed — perfect for keeping little ones entertained while parents can relax.
The location is also a big plus — situated in Chinatown, it’s very convenient with easy access to food, shops, and attractions.
The common areas are spacious, bright, and comfortable, and I also appreciated the small local touches like the handmade items on display, which add a unique charm to the stay.
Overall, a cozy, stylish, and family-friendly place. Would definitely come back again and highly recommend! 😊
NNFI☆There is small coffee shop attached to the hotel. Kids are really enjoyed the mini park. There is private pool just for female, unfortunately it was under renovation when I was there.
ผผู้เข้าพักThe hotel is in a good location, surrounded by shopping centers, a beach (I didn't get a chance to swim there), a beautiful promenade where young people enjoy the sunset in the evenings, and Chinese restaurants with delicious food.
The room is small but has everything you need. However, ours smelled of urine, which we couldn't get rid of even after two days with the window open and a fan.
The shower is good, with an socket, towel racks, and good water pressure. Overall, it's fine for a 2-3-day stay; there was no noise in the evenings, and the internet is decent.
If it weren't for the smell in the room, it would have been perfect.
ผผู้ใช้ไม่ระบุชื่อI had a good stay at Permai Hotel Kuala Terengganu. The room was comfortable and the facilities were nice, especially the swimming pool. The nasi dagang at the hotel was delicious! Overall, it’s a pleasant place to stay for both relaxation and local food experience.
