Nightmare experience!! I signed a 6 month lease, excited to begin my new life in Krabi. I expected it would be a normal property rental, where I pay monthly and am left alone to live my own life. Boy was I wrong. From the moment I arrived Michael, who seemed extraordinarily over protective of his things, gave over the top instructions for almost every aspect of my new "home". The deck chairs you see featured in the pictures? Well you need to store it in the garage, and only take it out when your using it. The other outdoor furniture? It's stacked up in the living room to keep it "safe" as well (taking up my living area space). Oh, and you'll need to be sure you're able to keep 4-5 appointments a week to ensure you are there to let the staff in. No, you can't just leave the gate open, so if you're a busy worker like me you're going to hate it. It's like he expected I worked for him or something?? Oh, did I mention a security camera inside the property so you'll also have no privacy? Well that doesn't matter because he'll just come over whenever he likes because he has his own FOB for the gate. It's like having the most overprotective house mate, but it's your land lord, and he lives next door. I tried to explain what the boundaries I expected were given this was a long term rental, but he assured me it was not - it was infact a "holiday rental" and I wasn't allowed durian either because "no hotel would allow that" (mind you, I signed a 6 month lease). When push came to shove and I finally had enough he demanded 150k baht for me to stay and be able to use the property like I would a normal rental (i.e. be left alone, take care of it and cover any damages at the end). When I refused to pay he gave me 4 days to move out! He has kept the full security deposit, he's also kept a full months rent (even though I was there less than a week) and also kept a full month of scooter hire. Also, one package I had has been collected by him and he's apparently keeping that too (as he's blocked me on WhatsApp, so I can't ask him for it). DON'T DO IT, there are other better properties around. Don't risk it with this guy, apparently I am not the first person to have problems like this with him. He's broken several laws in Thailand and does not seem at all concerned about it (despite me linking him to the legislation he broke), he literally said "take me to court then" and blocked me.
