Beautiful property needing to be properly maintained. Valet and front desk friendly and welcoming. Had a GREAT server (Daphne) in La Marea restaurant and food EXCELLENT! Pool bar staff not friendly and welcoming. A wedding (and there has been one on each visit) was beautiful but the band loud and right outside our room until 10PM. The hotel staff does not ”warn” upon check in that there will be a LOUD band right outside your window until 10PM. When we complained, a small allowance was offered, but there was no genuine apology and the manager did not come out and speak with us. Doubt if we ever will go there again. I think the rooms (once nice) are needing to be refreshed. Beds terribly uncomfortable. Take your own pillow if you can.
Pros: The resort is beautiful. The staff is wonderful and work hard. Thank you Miguel for your bar service and attention to detail - it did not go unnoticed. The weather was perfect. The water in the pool was nice and cool - cloudy - but expected with that many people wearing sunscreen and little children that never get out of the water ALL day... The beds are comfy, pillows are OK. They keep the beach cleaned. Jet ski staff - great Navy veteran working there - thank you for your service and he gave un a few extra minutes. Food is good poolside. Service is prompt. Lots of parking. Towels are soft. Cons: Water pressure is non-existent. Housekeeping is slow and inconsistent. One trash can not nearly enough in the room. The one bar that is open after the pool bar closes is a joke. Entertainment? Thu-Fri-Sat starts at 7:00 until 9:00 but there is nothing else happening. They don't have music unless you want to hear resort music that you have heard all day long on repeat. There is no late food service as the kitchen closes early. One bartender - I think her name is Victoria - was overly rude and condescending towards guests. She complained that she was overworked and hadn't had a day off in over a week.... We booked a snorkeling trip - had to drive off property to get to the boat. They should offer some sort of discount for that inconvenience. Our first reef was outstanding with tons of fish and sea life to see. The second location - why did we even go there. It was sea grass and sand........ I talked with others that were on the trip and they displayed their displeasure with his selection as well. Apparently he was taking advice from his wife that was on the boat. Every time we went into the lobby to snag a few cookies - the same tune - ”all the kids came in and took them all” Why didn't they stop that? Same think happened with the popcorn machines... First two drinks per guest amounts to a small split of warm bubbly with plastic flutes??? All in all our stay was very enjoyable but at that price point - we expected excellence and got standard.
Rob, Kent and Captain G were very professional when it came to the briefing and safety on the boat. All three were extremely helpful with my 11 year nieces who I was certifying for Jr. Open Water. I can not safe enough good things about how enjoyable they made the experience and how helpful they were to me as the instructor and also to their parents to help put the girls at ease. Thank you to the entire staff at Moray Dive Resort. We will probably return in the future with more nieces and nephews to certify.
