I booked 2 nights stay at the Sheraton Hotel Jeddah. On my 1st night, I was checked in to a separate adjacent building from the main hotel building and the experience was terrible:
There was no elevator and I had to climb up 2 flights of stairs with my luggage.
The wifi was not working, room was small and dated, bathroom lights was flickering, bathroom floor was unclean, the bedside wall was stained with some leftover food, bathroom drainage was clogged and the hair dryer was broken…
The experience was far from my expectation of Sheraton or Marriott Hotels (felt like I have checked in to some better grade motel). The duty manager told me he had no rooms at the main hotel building(apparently hotel was fully booked) and can only offer me another room next morning.
The next morning, I checked with my colleague who was on a separate booking and realised that he was checked in to the main building. I looked at his room and was shocked to see that his room was so much better than mine. That was Sheraton standard. I was quite upset that I was offered substandard room when we paid the same rates. My opinion is that Marriott/ Sheraton shouldn’t have offered such bad standard rooms to guests in the first place and only to make things right after the guest had such bad experience.
