I've read many of the reviews for Sligichan and while I can appreciate and understand why many have reported poor experiences, I think one has to put this property into perspective. Could the hotel use a few upgrades? Sure. Does Seumas' restaurant have the best food you will have in Scotland? No. Does everyone love their job at Seumas'? Probably not. But considering the location, the ambience, and the customer service from most of the staff, I rate this property highly. For those from the US that have reported that the property is overpriced, have you ever stayed at a property on or near a National Park? I've paid way more for a room at a NP that had no amenities and a 20 year old mattress! The property is clean, quiet, and the our bathroom was recently renovated. Additionally, the breakfasts in the AM were great, and if you have a custom order they are more than accommodating. A special shout out goes to Martin who I assume is the General Manager or something similar. While it is not necessarily a good thing for a property to have one person who can make your experience special, Martin is that person. I also had the occasion to connect with Martin after our visit and his customer service was as good after I left as it was when we were there in person. Thanks, Martin! I would most definitely go back.
“We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting for our wedding dinner. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged, creating an atmosphere that was both elegant and intimate. From the stunning decor to the warm lighting, the ambiance captured the essence of our love story beautifully. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly, making us feel truly special on our big day. The food was simply exceptional! Each course was artfully presented and tasted even better than it looked. Our guests are still raving about the exquisite flavors and the variety offered. From delicate appetizers to the indulgent main courses, every bite was a delight. The chef’s attention to detail and use of fresh, high-quality ingredients was evident in every dish. We’re incredibly grateful for the unforgettable evening shared with our closest family and friends. Thank you for creating memories that will stay with us forever! If you’re looking for a venue that combines outstanding service, delicious food, and a magical atmosphere, look no further. We can’t recommend it highly enough!”
We were visiting family and 4 of us dined here. Firstly my fish was uncooked and I politely informed the waitress, I was given a new meal. By the time it came, everyone else had finished. We ordered tea after our meal and the bill was brought over. We were asked to leave our table to sit in the bar area to finish our teas and coffee???there was no table in the bar area and the waitress rudely told us, they needed our table! Why? No one was waiting! After spending over £70 I expect to be able to drink my tea after my meal without the bill being brought to us without asking for it! We hadn’t even finished and we were being told to move to the bar! Maybe if the fish hadn’t been undercooked, and sent back, we would have finished our meals quicker, even though, we had only been at the table about an hour! Shocking rude service! Will never recommend this place to anyone! Customer service was disgusting!
I really hate to write a bad review, but there was just so little to like about our stay at the Isle of Skye Guest House. I chalk this up to me being a cheapskate and not understanding the Skye market, so DO YOUR RESEARCH. However, I will note that I saw quite a few similar facilities as we drove around the island -- a lot of tired looking inns that probably cost a pretty penny and were proudly displaying ”no vacancy” signs in early September. I started my search for lodging about 10 months in advance of our trip and quickly discovered that many options were already full, cost more than I wanted to pay, or both. So I ended up booking the Isle of Skye Guest House and there you have it. Read the other reviews -- they're all true. Our room was really small, had no storage space, and provided one of the worst beds I've slept on as an adult: the mattress was mushy, sagging, and thoroughly uncomfortable. The walls were thin, the windows old and single pane, and the bathroom so small you had to close the door before you could turn around. Worst of all, the shower flooded and we had to use all our towels to sop up the water. And, as others have noted: there's no staff on site. If I ever find myself staying on Skye again, it won't be here. It's not that it was terrible or unsafe or not clean -- it's just that it wasn't at all what I wanted or expected for the money spent. So spend more -- it'll be worth it!
This is one of the nicest hotels we stayed in during our vacation in the Scottish Highlands. Everything about it was top notch. The location was incredibly scenic. The food and ambience in the bar was very good. The hospitality and the service displayed by the staff was outstanding. We were only there for one night and we wished we had booked our stay for longer. This was the nicest hotel we stayed at in Scotland.
SSKO211We couldn't have been happier with this hotel! I was a bit hesitant to book here due to some negative reviews, but our experience couldn't have been more positive! I booked the Superior room, it was more than large enough for my husband and myself, and our adult son (the rooms were separated by a 4 or 5 step staircase, our son had the upper room, we had the lower). Beds and pillows were very comfortable, the rooms and bathroom were very clean! There is a fan provided in the room, thankfully, as I sleep with a fan on year round. The kind gentlemen at the desk even put one together for my son to use, much appreciated! The breakfast was fabulous, and the woman serving us each morning was an absolute delight! All of the staff members were kind, warm, and friendly! The bar downstairs is a comfortable place to hangout for the evening, there were mostly locals in there, lovely people, great conversations! I do highly recommend this hotel!
Hotel was beautiful and the rooms cozy but comfortable. We loved the balcony and the views of the water. Breakfast each morning was amazing! Nice distance to Portree without having to stay in the craziness of all the tourists.
