We stayed for one week in October as a couple. It was my birthday during the stay and we were surprised with champagne and cake in our room which was a lovely gesture. The rooms were great with comfortable beds and plenty of amenities. The hotel overall was immaculate and very well maintained. We did need to change our room after one night as we were in a connecting room which meant we could hear everything from next door which was very odd. However, this was no issue and were quickly switched to a new room. At reception, Konte was amazing every time we saw him, not being to help enough and is a real asset to the Secrets team. We also enjoyed a spa morning on a more cloudy day and it was lovely and the staff were great. We stayed half board after reading the reviews, and after trying dinner on the first night in the buffet we were glad. There was a good selection of food but it was cold and wouldn’t have been great every night. We went to the marina and nearby port town for our evening meals which was great. I feel the hotel is missing out on a place to serve light lunches (baguettes/sandwiches) and it was claimed the Coco Cafe would serve this on their website but oddly was not the case. Unfortunately, on our final night we were awoken in the early hours (4am) to a very loud banging and after investigation we realised it was the room’s fuse board. Clearly an electrical fault and being very loud and potentially dangerous my partner called reception. He in fact had to call reception twice as we were told someone would investigate and after 20 mins there was still nothing. Reception offered no resolve and claimed the maintenance person listened outside of the door and heard nothing. This was extremely odd as it was certainly very loud and almost implied were lying about it. We were offered no resolve and had no idea why were just left to endure this issue. Overall, as a couple it was a lovely break where we could relax and enjoy some sun, I would be more than happy to return. The main critic we found, was the restaurant. The service just needed to be more consistent and of a 5* standard that we are used to. It was odd to only be approached and asked if we wanted tea/coffee a couple times in the week and the rest ignored. Even collecting dirty plates was extremely slow and I went without yogurts/muesli etc on numerous occasions as there were never any clean bowls. The critic is somewhat minor the grand scheme of things, but it stood out as these are the things that make a hotel exemplary and 5*.
