"Nothing to say about the reception staff who, with professionalism and kindness, tried to make the disastrous holiday in this disastrous structure "pleasant". Disastrous due to the lack of air conditioning both in the common areas and in the room assigned to us. We asked several times if it was possible to "turn on the system in the room, but the answer was to change rooms - a room in which obviously the air conditioning did not work, and so we remained in the one we already occupied. Another answer was that due to a mayoral ordinance it was not possible to turn on the air conditioning (phantom ordinance). We still requested an intervention, and the maintenance man reported to the reception that nothing could be done. At this point we decided to shorten our stay and leave a day early, losing money and part of the holiday. But the worst joke, that with the suitcases packed, in response to a further request, the maintenance man came to the room, dismantled the filters and the air conditioning started! In short, a ruined holiday. By the way, a 4 star hotel, with a poor breakfast buffet and machines for coffee and drinks is just unthinkable. Even having paid for half board compared to the menus presented in the morning, where frozen fish was the only thing Owner, we preferred to eat outside. I'll stop here, there would be more to say. I strongly advise against this establishment."

"I came to this hotel with some friends. It's in a great location, very close to the sea and attractions. We were walking, but we had no trouble reaching the beach. I'd give it a 10 just for the breakfast, which was varied and made with excellent products. The staff was also incredibly kind and friendly; I felt very welcomed even though it was my first time at the hotel. The room was very spacious, even though there were five of us, and it was equipped with every comfort. I would definitely stay here again!"

"I have had the opportunity to stay at many hotels on the island and I can say that in relation to the quality/price ratio and service it is a structure that has totally failed to meet my expectations. I'm sorry to say it, but the cuisine and table service, the two strong points of a hotel, have numerous shortcomings. Catering is based on savings, at dinner the portions are miserable and embarrassing, served on gigantic plates, I was served bruschetta as a starter, escarole vegetables as a second course which would be a side dish, alternatively ham and melon which would be an appetizer, service all very slow. At dinner, exhausting waits to receive that little. Unfortunately the dishes are not served hot and are often tasteless, including the pasta, you are forced to remedy this by seasoning everything with oil, salt and pepper. Breakfast is normal, very cheap yoghurts and evening sandwiches from the previous day are served, I definitely do not recommend coffee for breakfast, it is better to have a paid waffle at the pool bar. The cost/quality/service ratio is disproportionate, a 75 cl bottle of water at the table costs 3.50 euros, absurd with all the money you pay for a room with a breakfast and dinner package, all unjustifiable. The table service is very slow, the waiters are unhelpful and inattentive, especially the younger ones, I think it is simply inexperienced and poorly trained staff. Little initiative was noted at breakfast, the customer is always forced to block them from having to request a hot drink (coffee, cappuccino, etc.) or to have the same dirty dishes removed. The cuisine needs to be reviewed, there is a lot to work on, it has ups and downs, unfortunately the desserts are not appreciated as they are prepared with the addition of too much sugar. The half board formula with evening dinner is not recommended, the snack at lunch by the pool is better, the food is much better, decent portions and much more efficient and faster service. The only positive notes are the services in the swimming pool, spa and thermal treatments, I found good care of the places, all the staff were kind and trained, I categorically exclude the dining room staff, the girl Alessia and Pasquale professional at the poolside. The sofas located outside the hotel are comfortable and relaxing, the location is strategic for those who love an evening walk or if you want to go and eat something different. There are no evenings with music and entertainment, except on August 14th, on the other days there is only a thin diffusion, too soft and soporific. The cuisine of the mid-August dinner did not excite me at all, I was hoping to find something better and of superior quality, a buffet based on carbohydrates and pre-packaged ricotta which are also served for breakfast, nothing special compared to what is administered during normal days . We stayed in this hotel one night..as soon as we arrived we were greeted by a very nice girl perhaps one of the positive notes of this hotel. Old hotel without elevator it seems like the living room of an old man's house, rooms under renovation but fortunately clean linen. To be a hotel in Ischia Porto and in the central part of Via Roma it should improve a lot a lot a lot..there is still a long way to go to be called a HOTEL."

"Hotel Solemar is situated along the chain of family beach clubs of Ischia Porto's waterside, in a relatively quiet neighborhood 3-5 minutes walk from the promenade of shops and restaurants that thrive every summer evening. We had a single room facing a tranquil garden lane, and a double room with a large balcony overlooking the beach. Both rooms were spacious enough to accomodate luggage. Wifi in the single was slow, but the oceanview double had flawless wifi; both rooms had excellent cable with many channels, mostly in Italian, of course. The breakfast was better than most hotels, and the daytime front desk staff and housekeeping ladies exerted themselves to be helpful. PROS: -Location! 10 minute walk to ferry/boat docks, 20 minute walk to Castel Aragonese -Pool, beach clubs ($), big seaside balconies available ($) -Breakfast buffet; lobby bar; friendly, helpful staff -Excellent individual air conditioners CONS: -Smaller size showers in some rooms (e.g., tight fits for "super-sized" North Americas) -Rust and wear-and-tear appropriate to a moderate priced, beachfront family hotel"
