It is such a quaint, clean and nice guesthouse! Worth our while driving 30 min from Hiraizumi to stay at this property. The chef cooked a fab dinner (heard he also operates a cafe nearby - too bad we cannot stay till lunch to try) and the breads are the best I have tasted this trip (especially fig bread). Wished Agoda has more selection of rooms when we booked it. The room is not too small but the blanket is a tad too small for two of us. The dining area has sofa where we stayed and played card games, while enjoying drip coffee. Breakfast is also very nasty (croque monsieur) and homemade yoghurt (yum)

A wonderful guesthouse to enjoy when visiting Japan's beautiful Geibikei Gorge in Iwate prefecture. We stayed three nights because we had heard the meals at the guesthouse were pretty special. And they were! The main chef/owner worked in a french restaurant in Tokyo for many years - so we enjoyed a mixture of french meals and Japanese meals - all an absolute treat. Worth staying just for the meals! The guesthouse is rustic french with Scandinavian simplicity. Bedrooms are simply/sparse, but we found our beds comfortable. Shared toilets/bathrooms were immaculate. There is a shared dining/lounge which often turns into a public cafe for lunch. We included breakfast and dinner in our tariff - something I highly advise. We used the guesthouse as a base to see the gorge, and to visit other nearby towns of interest. One of the highlights of our Japan trip! The guesthouse has a Instagram site and a website. We booked direct, although it is on some booking sites.
