Motel One Hamburg-Alster

I stayed one night and it was a comfortable stay. Here are the pros and cons for me: Pros: -The gentleman at reception was polite and very efficient. As the room was vacant he offered me a much earlier check in which was very useful as I had arrived early. -Hotel and the room were very clean. -It is located very close to a metro station, the area is fairly decent and not far from the city centre. It was a cold winter day. The room was quiet. Cons: There is no coffee/tea making facility in the room, which is a standard everywhere I have stayed before. I did not see any bins in the room and had to use the toilet bin for my rubbish. The room did not have a wardrobe. There was a basic rack however. I expect the above basic room facilities of a hotel in this class. Will I stay again? Only if I have to and found no better options.

Fidel at the desk was very helpful and atttentive..infact all staff were very accomodating and friendly..very beautiful clran modern hotel..glad i stayed here

Stayed at the Motel One Alster for 2 nights during a business trip to Hamburg. The hotel is located in the St Georg part of the city and right outside Lohmuehlenstrasse underground station on the U1 line (one stop from Hamburg Central Station). Additionally it is also within a 5 minute walk to Berliner Tor underground and S-Bahn station with direct access to the train to Hamburg Airport. Check-in was quick and the staff being very friendly. My room was located on the 8th floor and featured the standard Motel One interior. The rooms are certainly on the smaller side, but clean and modern. The hotel also features a very well stocked Gin bar downstairs. Again, staff being very friendly and attentive. Overall, Motel One is a no frills hotel concept but from my perspective it punches well above its closest competitors in this segment.

The hotel is very close to airport, room is small, bed is too soft. The room and public areas were clean. No information about hotel given during check in at night, you have to ask everything to receptionist. No room service, no minibar in the room.

Sort of functional and instantly forgettable - not nearly as charming as the one in Basel where we had stayed a couple of years ago. Had a good cocktail in the bar and the breakfast is pretty good. What was good for us was that you could easily cut through in 5 minutes to Lange Reihe - one of our favourite streets and full of good cafés and restaurants.

The hotel is located about 1 km from the central station.We had a bright room with a comfortable bed, a varied breakfast, very friendly and helpful service. Down at the lobby there is a nice bar open in the evenings with some snacks, coffee and drinks.

Very unfriendly staff! Did not at all feel welcomed:-/

very clean modern hotel and only 50 meters from train stop well run and provided a good place to stay. not in heart of city but only 5-10 mins by u Bahn which is very cheap to get around

The hotel is very beautiful, even tho I have to say that the pictures are taken in an “extremely favorable way”. The rooms are small, no closet and no telephone and the wifi connection isn’t great either… the worst part of the hotel is nevertheless the stuff. I had a very unfortunate experience after my arrival. There was a constant noise in my room, I went to the reception to explain the problem and to try to find a solution, and one girl at the reception asked me literally “DID YOU PARTY YESTERDAY NIGHT?”. At first I didn’t understand such an unfortunate comment but I guess that she was trying to find out if the noise was in my head because I might have gone to a techno party the night before…. They offered me another room with the same noise, I understood then that the noise was a problem in the whole building. I went back to the reception to tell them that the new room had the same noise and they told me that, since I was the only customer complaining they were not going to do anything about it… I don’t recommend the hotel at all specially if you want to rest after a long travel.
