Whilst the game drives and our guide were amazing, that's where the magic ended. The lodge itself is extremely overpriced for what it offers. The reception and restaurant staff are poorly trained, do not listen to any requests outside of their normal routine, the food is mediocre especially the breakfast. The drinks on offer were pathetic and there were only 3 different local beers to choose from, and no international brands at all. There was no option of a non-alcoholic beer even when we asked on arrival if it could possibly be arranged. This request was seemingly dismissed. The few wines on offer were on more than one occasion not even put in a fridge before lunch or dinner and an alternative wine would often need to be ordered so as to get a chilled wine. The staff would push you to put in your lunch or dinner order before you had even finished your starter of your current meal - only interested in completing their required tasks as fast as possible rather than concentrating on guest service, enjoyment experience. On arrival the staff were not expecting us, there was nobody to welcome us and the room was not ready for us and we had to wait for it to be prepared. After the game drives there were no staff to meet you on your return as in other lodges and the refresher clothes offered were simply left on the reception desk along with the tray of liqueurs which remained uncovered - seemingly hidden for the guests to find and serve themselves. This was not a single occasion but observed each and every time. On leaving there were no staff to see us off, help with bags or bid us farewell. We were constantly reminded of remembering to leave a tip by any staff we encountered on our last morning - seemingly that was all they cared about, and whilst we did leave a tip, we feel it was definitely undeserved. The lodge itself is in disrepair and seems tired and old. The decking and the pool need urgent maintenance with missing wood panels, exposed nails and screws, rotting and warped wood. The pool itself was a milky green and the bottom of it which could not be seen was littered with branches which was not pleasant to discover whilst attempting to take a swim. The lounge furniture was constantly dusty and all the lodge windows and glass were milky and had not been cleaned in weeks. The electricity was constantly going off with the back up generator not working as it should. Even when electricity was on the air conditioner did not cool the room and merely acted as a fan - definitely in need of a service. Even when electricity was on, the WiFi signal would fluctuate from nothing to a very slow and weak signal at best making any online activity almost impossible. The game walks advertised (and what we were most interested in) were only available on one of the days as the guide had to be brought in from another camp as their own bush walk guide was unavailable. The same applied to the massage treatments with the lady being there on the first day of our stay, b
the camp it's beautiful, only 6 rooms so service it is very personilized, the view from the room it is amazing and can be alone a safari itself because you see so many animals passing by your outside balcony. the room is very big and bery comfortable and food just great. the staff Ronaldo and Louis and manager Daniel was just amazing. our safari guide Hali was super experienced and manage to make us live unbilieveble emotions, I highly recomend Hamilton Camp
Elephant Point is a 100/10 stay. We stayed at the Mavalanga lodge and the house is beautiful with everything you need. All of the staff is so helpful and responsive. Melody helped with all pre arrival items that made organizing the trip so easy. We did morning and evening game drives with Romeo. He made sure we saw all of the big 5 and even more. He was so knowledgeable about the animals and history of Kruger. Nelly and the maintenance team were also always around helping clean or with really anything you might need like setting up the fire. My family had an incredible trip and would highly highly recommend Elephant Point! We hope to be back one day!

We stayed for 5days /6nights. What a beautiful peaceful place to stay. The staff were slick, friendly and very attentative. The menu is small but food was very very tasty. We stayed in a tent next to the river and were lucky enough to see elephant on the opposite bank and plenty of birds. The organised tours were great value for money and our guides France and Cosca were knowledgeable and very accommodating. The sunset safari was run by a guide from the kruger national park and was nowhere near as good as the bush lidge guides. The pool was a welcome cooling off point and spotlessly clean. The gardens were beautifully maintained and really created a peaceful environment. We really invigorated our soul at this magical place. Will definitely visit again.
We spent three nights here on our first visit to SA. The all-female staff (all the male staff seem to work in the gardens!) are friendly and helpful. The lady in the office was brilliant and created a great itinerary for us for a couple of days, as we had no specific plans and no car. If you have a hire car, would recommend the gorge and Elephant Whispers, the sanctuary. She organised a driver to take us out to various local places, and we had a great time doing this. The room was very comfortable, good wifi, and we loved the outdoor shower, even if the weather was a little chilly while we were there! The restaurant offers a great choice of food, huge portions, and a comprehensive wine/drinks list too. The hotel is set in lovely grounds, where you can see monkeys scampering around and a huge variety of birds. There are a couple of short walking trails. We didn't try the pool, as it was still a bit cold forus. All in all a very positive introduction to SA!
Perhaps one of the most unusual places I’ve ever stayed, but perfectly clean and comfortable, and most importantly, convenient to the airport. We had a 7 AM flight and had to return the car the night before so this fit our needs perfectly. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I wish there were places like it around the world.
It was an okay stay. Rooms were clean the Dj was also okay. Staff is welcoming and Managers as well. The coffee could do with some improvement as well. The venue is central to the mall but a bit far to the best Mpumalanga sight seeing so you have to drive an hour to Graskop
Rio Vista Lodge is so well placed for Malelane Gate with the Luxury rooms looking over the Crocodile River to the Kruger Park. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and polite but the great benefit is the on sore restaurant which is very reasonably priced.
The Lodge was arranged as part of a National Geographic tour. Our tour group stayed two nights as we spent time in Kruger National Park. This lodge was very nice, clean, well staffed, and convenient to access the Park. The restaurant and food were both excellent. One evening we had dinner at the outdoor event area under the stars which was a nice change. Rooms were spacious, with a deck overlooking a pond. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would return.
TTheAmazinGraceClean and neat. Good stay for the business trip.
Breakfast was ok. Not many choices but enough for light meal.
Shower booth was spacious and there was a soap and bodywash.
Gym was in the other hotel but swimming pool was in the hotel.
Near by the mall which is very convenient.
I'll visit again.
This was a pleasant surprise. Located right next to the sabi river the best cabanas to rent are on stilts. The L124 would be ideal three bed with living room sleeper space. The whole area grounds is about 1.5km and there are no hiking trails. Some of the chalets look like they need some TLC. Avoid the ‘flats’ on R that you will see on the right hand side as you enter the facility. Many things inside the chalet were not working, the microwave and the stove, I quick maintenance checklist will fix the problems. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. There is a spa but the pricing is more expensive than Dubai ! The restaurant is under construction. A 10 min drive from Hazyview town where there is a shopping center and three petrol stations. 15-20 mins drive from the nearest Kruger gate. If you are South African it’s 83 rand to enter the park and foreigners pay 331 rand to enter.
