The Hanover Inn is located on the Village Green in this quintessential New England town. It has all the modern conveniences and is beautifully appointed throughout. It houses the Pine restaurant which is open for breakfast as well as evening dining. It is centrally located and within easy walking distance of a number of shops and restaurants as well as portions of the Dartmouth College campus. It is also a stop for the free shuttle to the highly respected Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical facility. The staff manning the front desk and the restaurant were all very friendly and helpful. My wife and I spent two nights there and both of us were very pleased with all aspects of our visit.
Wonderful staff and clean, modern rooms. Very nice touches to make the stay enjoyable - Nespresso coffee maker, steamer for clothes, refrigerator in room, comfy towels, and bed. Complementary water, fruit, and Lorna Doone cookies are near each floor elevator as well as large afternoon cookies in the lobby area. Breakfast offerings include fruit, juice, coffee/tea, yogurt, and muffins to start your day. I will be staying here again!!
Stayed two nights here, generally visiting the Woodstock VT area and not wanting to pay Woodstock fall prices. The 5 stars is for what you expect from a hotel like this. Clean, updated comfortable and helpful employees. The servers at the breakfast were helpful and nice.
First I want to state the entire staff were extremely helpful, polite and pleasant. My issues relate mostly to the hotel's business model of over-charging and skimping. I'm sure many readers will consider $300.00 per night not excessive. But a $20 plus dollar per plate breakfast buffet was another inflated cost. A cost we decided not to incur and instead went in to town for a superior meal at a much more reasonable price. The coffee pods in our room were not restocked during our stay. I was also disappointed to be given a queen sized accommodation when the reservation was for a king sized bed. Guests are only allowed to consume drinks in the bar area, which becomes tiresome when the bar is full and rather loud. We would have preferred to carry the drinks to our quiet room. The accommodations were clean. As I said, the staff was great. But I feel Hilton is acting overly reliant upon its patrons to beef up profits and share price.
