Just checked out this morning from a terrific stay at this ”home away from home-feeling” lodge. My wife, kids and I had stayed close to a week, and received the most welcoming care and accommodations. The owners are sooo friendly and hospitable and work super hard to accommodate all the guests needs. After skiing day after day for almost a week, this place felt incredibly homey and the perfect place to relax after a long, fun day ...and the location is just perfect! The owners also took the time to talk to us throughout our stay about how our vacation is going, which was super thoughtful and kind :) AMAZING STAY!!!
The Inn at Thorn Hill is truly a special place nearly surrounded by one of the USA’s magnificent national forests. We came for the fall foliage and left a week later feeling connected to the inn, staff, and village of Jackson. The Inn is all about serenity and comfort. The staff is courteous and considerate and genuinely seem to enjoy caring for their guests for a brief period before sending them home with an appreciation of New Hampshire’s hearty spirit and natural beauty. We hope to return to the Inn at Thorn Hill during the summertime and again in the Fall to see Diana’s Baths and to sightsee along the Kancamagus Highway.
We enjoyed our stay at the inn. It is definitely dated and needs some refreshing but typical for an older inn. Consequently, the carpets and furniture in the lobby are starting to show age and there is a slight “old” smell. We stayed in the Robert Frost room. Nice king size bed, but not sure whether heavy comforter had been washed recently. We mostly just used the sheet and blanket. There is an old window unit air conditioner but we didn’t mind it. It did get pretty chilly in the morning and there was a space heater to use. Could use a little better lighting. Bathroom was a little awkward with one small glass shelf for all toiletries, but it is an older building after all. The breakfast was fresh cooked and very good. We would stay there again. It could be a great place if they updated it some.
Went for dinner Monday evening …a nice surprise, 2 for1 entrees on Mondays during the month ! Soup of day was seafood stew. Loved it! Not a cup . Even bigger than a bowl! A meal in itself. And spicy, which I loved. My wife had the blackened salmon, it was thick and perfectly cooked. I had chicken Alfredo, which also was good. But oh, the stew. Sooooo good.
