We stayed for 1 week on an all inclusive basis. We arrived Late evening and were not expecting anything to eat but were able to get a lovely pizza from the outside restaurant. The man on reception told us so much info that we really couldn’t take it in as we were tired from the journey. A 30 minute massage in the spa was included in our stay. Our room was big, bed very comfortable. Plenty of storage and hangers. Safe in room. Towelling robes provided. All the staff were lovely; always smiling. Everyone acknowledged us from the gardeners to the cleaners, waiters, bar staff…. The Gardenia restaurant is a La carte with waiter service, must be pre booked. We found the buffet a bit disappointing, it was much the same every day. We didnt have children with us but commented that there was no ice cream available! The beach is lovely, soft sand, plenty of sun beds. Pool looked good but we used the beach/sea. There is no shop in the hotel which we found odd. I would recommend this hotel out of season but think it would be very busy in the height of summer.
The staff make this hotel and should be applauded for making us feel so welcome. However, the hotel itself is tired and in need of basic modernisation such as reliable wifi access, ac that works and smartening the rooms and bathrooms. I'm not sure anything has been done since the hotel opened. The main corridor carpet is in really poor condition and smells very bad. The mattresses in our room although new we're rock hard and made for really uncomfortable sleep. The air conditioning doesn't work, so we had to sleep with the balcony door open meaning we got bitten by the mosquitoes. Our room was cleaned everyday but the towels are thin and very scratchy. The shower is in need of a refit - walk-in showers would be good to avoid the use of shower curtains which were dirty. The foundations of the hotel are good, with lots of mature trees and shrubs, the pool was clean and there were plenty of sunbeds but the maintenance is poor. The children's area is overgrown and the paths are a trip hazard. The food, although presented quite nicely was the same everyday and quite often the meat was very chewy and gristly. There were lots of flies hovering, which made us choose not to touch the salads. If you are going all inclusive like we did, you will become quite bored. The breakfasts are much better and although offering the same set up everyday, there was plenty to choose from. The staff were very kind and made sure we were topped up with drinks and made us feel very welcome. Be warned that the alcohol is watered down and you'll need to pay for bottled beer, but it is very cheap at £1.75. It's a real shame that the hotel isn't getting the investment it needs as it could be great and the staff really do deserve it! We paid a lot and didn't feel we got value for money unfortunately.
