If you want to stay at a beautiful cottage with an amazing view as well as great service, then there is no way around Hestheimar in south Iceland! Sadly we only stayed one night this time, but we will make up for it on our next Iceland tour! The cottages are very clean, big, offer everything one could ask for, are generously separated from other cottages, and offer an amazing view into a big valley and horses. The main building has a beautiful restaurant where we could enjoy a great breakfast. We can highly recommend this great accommodation!
Sistemazione incantevole, molto accogliente e carina. Consigliata!
We had a nice night at Country Dream. Our room although not large, was comfortable. we had 1 bedroom and a pull out sofa.... but wait.... The pull out sofa was not like any normal one where you have to pull everything off and have a bar in your back, it was a case of simply pulling a cord and the whole sofa turned upside down into a bed that was as comfortable as the bed in the bedroom. It took 20 seconds to pull out the bed and 20 seconds to put it back the next morning. The room had a small kitchenette which was adequate for cooking a simple meal. There was also a hot tub available to use with our room. As a bonus, we were invited to go into the stable to visit the owner's very friendly Icelandic horses. He also organised for a beautiful Icelandic Sheepdog to come and visit us. Country Dream is on a horse farm about 5 - 15 minutes drive from the main road between Geysir and Selfoss depending on the conditions. In the right conditions, it would give a great opportunity to see the Northern lights. If you are staying here in winter, I recommend that you ask your rental car company to provide you with a car with metal beads (studs) in the tyres as the road was very icy when we left due to rainfall and freezing temperatures.
