This hotel remains a must-do destination. I visited recently for the first time in 50 years. Delightfully, this historic building remains well looked after and well-run. Significant thought has gone into maintaining and extending the estate. The hotel’s wealth of historic features and furnishings remains. (The billiard room is a sight to see!). Stunning cocktail bar. Rooms remain comfortable and well-thought out. We had a deluxe room with lake view and a very comfy bed. Modern touches included a TV fitted into the bathroom and the spa is of the highest quality. Our complimentary visit to the wildlife park revealed its heartening ethos of conservation and we were lucky to witness a bird of prey experience in the grounds of the hotel. The deputy manager Richard is attentive and supportive. I am looking forward to seeing what the hotel does with the historic walled kitchen garden, which uniquely has a mountain stream running through it.
Beautiful location. The hotel is warm, friendly and the meals are of a very high quality. I travelled with family, but had a solo room, which was of a good size, with excellent facilities, and decorated to a high standard. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, unique and cosy, with an authentic “olde worlde “ feel. A rewarding and happy four day stay. I highly recommend and look forward to returning…
We stayed for 2 nights but would have liked to have stopped longer. Room was nice but a bit squashed for space , bed comfortable, shower very good. Meals all good. Great place nearby at the train station. Also used the local spa facility, very smart but not everything was working properly when we were there. Staff were all very friendly , helpful and worked hard. Food was good especially the breakfast. Liked the bars in the hotel and the decor and atmosphere of the hotel.
On a 2 day break to the Lake District we stayed here on the Saturday night , was central to everywhere we wanted to visit , easily accessible just off the A66 . The evening meal & Breakfast were both 10/10 and the staff were all excellent , One lad sorry I didn’t get his name was extremely professional, I’d asked him about his Scottish accent but he was actually from Workington with Scottish Parents . Saying that all the staff were SO GOOD . Lovely clean quiet rooms
Fantastic hotel with great staff.Hotel rooms spotless and with everything you need.Food was amazing as well as the service and also well situated to visit Keswick.Personally I thought it was underpriced and would have paid more.Spoke to the manager and other staff who were super friendly and helpful.
First class! We have just had our 3rd stay at this wonderful place. Clare and Craig are wonderful hosts and always make us feel so welcome. Spotlessly clean, peaceful, wonderful views and garden. Amazing breakfasts-lots of choice including daily specials. The home made baking is a lovely touch. Great location with off road parking. Just a twenty minute walk into Keswick. We would recommend Thyme bistro for dinner, book in advance. Also recommend the Farmers Arms just up the road from Dalegarth for a post hike pint of wainwright Thank you Clare and Craig, see you next year
