Everyone and everything was wonderful. The only small gripe I would have is the room could have been cleaner. The window frames are definitely in need of attention. The room we had was basic which was what we wanted as we were on a budget, and because of this there really isn't any excuse for the room to be anything than spotless as there isn't a lot of furniture or fittings to maintain. But that is the only gripe I have. Everyone was really friendly and look after their guests well. The food was really good and not overpriced. The whole area and surrounding area has nothing but lovely friendly people and some lovely little shops. We would go back.
We recently got married in Gretna, we and all our wedding party stayed here for 2 nights. We could not fault a single thing, from booking in, the bedrooms, function room, food, bar, all staff went over and above to make us all very welcome. The cleanliness and friendliness were second to none. It has a 'family' feeling and nothing is too much trouble. All our guests have said what an amazing time they had and that is all down to the Team at the Solway. We hadn't really made arrangements for the evening following our Wedding, as we were holding our main 'Evening Reception Party' when we got home to Cheshire, but after the meal, Fiona sorted out a speaker for us, had the tables moved to make more room, we played our own music and danced the night away until the early hours. Everyone had a fantastic time. We would certainly recommend The Solway Lodge, and will certainly be returning. Jackie & Richard Gibson
A beautiful hotel and such lovely rooms. Bed was amazing with fluffy pillows, great food, I had the duck and it was perfect, brilliant staff, so helpful and friendly, we had a ground floor room , so no steps to navigate, it also had a wet room which great. The room was very big so didn't feel cramped at all. The hotel it's self is beautiful and the grounds are lovely.
From the outside (scaffolding etc) we wondered what it would be like but we were pleasantly surprised. We had booked a standard room which was clean and tidy with all the bits we needed, kettle, tea/coffee, hairdryer. The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast could be cereal with milk or yogurt, cooked breakfast, toast or croissant, big choice and all fresh and freshly cooked. We had the cooked breakfast - WOW - lasted us all day. The little town of Annan, all I can say is, if you don’t visit it, you will miss out on a treat.
PS the scaffolding is for all the renovations which will improve the property. We would love to return one day.
