The hotel is not the best in Luxor. It is not on the Nile river nor does it have a fancy presence on the road. But for an inexpensive but clean hotel this is the best in Luxor. The prices are great, the location is within walking distance of Luxor temple, and the staff is excellent. We went with a business group of 75 people and they accommodated our every need and went above and beyond in the meals and dealing with all the issues that came up. Highly recommend.
I just love the Staff and other people around the hotel very positive happy 😊 and helpfull I have a problem getting around on my legs and the help was always at hand please came and have much fun on the roof top pool with view to kill for what can I say the manager on hand and around every day asking if every think is OK well what can you say but Thank you St,Joseph hotel
The hotel is situated on the West Bank of Luxor. Ok hotel for few nights. Host, Mahmoud is the best. He made our stay valuable. Lower standard at the hotel, but clean, WiFi good. Fantastic view from the beautiful roof terrace. View to Hatchepsut temple.
At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. That being said, for the price, the room surpassed my expectations, in cleanliness and organisation. However, the staff was probably the best part, they helped us book various services in Luxor, including hot air balloon ride. They were very friendly and helpful, and I definitely recommend Shady Hotel as a place to stay for cheap if it is your first time in Luxor.

Fantastic stay with Mara house and cannot recommend enough. Mara and co were very helpful from the beginning of booking accommodation and recommending transport/logistics/sight visits, and throughout the stay Amr (manager) was very welcoming and helpful, a good friend to be missed. Also, an incredible cook! I was well fed each evening with properly home made food. Rooms are well kept and nicely decorated, and a comfortable sleep. Feels less like a hotel, and more like a home. If you book your tours through Mara, the guides are very knowledgeable and patient, I spent three days with them visiting Karnak and Luxor, Abydos and Dendera (my favourite), and West Bank tour. On return to Luxor I will be sure to revisit Mara House. Hopefully, it will be soon!
