Good place to relax closer to nature. It was low-season so service may have not been the best but you cannot go wrong by using the thermal pools, the volcanic mud and the spa service which was very good. Also, they have a natural steam room that you can use as often as you'd like. Bungalows are nice and clean although a bit outdated. TV service is non existent unless you have access to streaming services that sometimes do not work with your US based subscription. Nice walking trails. Only one restaurant open due to low occupancy but good service and food is just OK. Maybe a bit expensive for what they offer, and $15 for a bloody Mary by the pool seemed expensive and not good at all. They do carry 2 kind of local beers nothing outstanding. Breakfast is included in the rate and it is filling with normal items and fruit. Coffee is really good at the resyaurant. They provide with pool towels but you have to go to the front desk to get them and any time you want to change them. Did not use any of the activities as this was more of a relaxing trip for us. There is internal transport but it just a pick up truck that takes you from the front desk to your room, you are better off walking and enjoying nature. The Spa is nice, secluded and the ladies are very good and accomodating to your requests.
Wonderful staff and the options for many adventures here including horseback riding canopy tours and tubing. We saw many waterfalls right here that were amazing and the natural hot springs were glorious in the rain! We also spent a day in the Rincón de la Vieja National park which was easily accessed from the hacienda . It was definitely worth it with lovely trails, fumaroles and waterfalls. Very well maintained trails! Easy to get to the Liberia airport which was important to us. We did rent an SUV there
