We spent a few days in this hotel, although we shouldn't have. Upon our arrival, the receptionist already greeted us in the stairwell that we do not have a room reservation here, let's leave. We said that we have already paid for the accommodation, look into it. He asked for our name and the room voucher several times, but only claimed that we did not have a paid room reservation. We said fine, we'll call the travel agency, but by the time I called the agency, I still had the paid reservation. One room was acceptable, but the other was a noisy, cold room, where we covered ourselves with 3 blankets to avoid freezing, when we opened the window to let the sun in, someone always closed it by the time we got back from the trip. The bathroom constantly smelled of sewage, and the space was so small that you couldn't sit on the toilet. Wifi is not available either in the room or in the lobby. Breakfast was also included in the price, but we preferred to buy food for ourselves, because the quantity and quality of the food on display was below criticism. After that, we gave the hotel another chance and paid for the Etna tour, but before we left, the plan changed and after the tour we didn't come back to the hotel, but they took us to Taormina, they just forgot to tell us that they wouldn't bring us back from there, only then did we realize, when he asked us to take a photo of the bus schedule. Based on our experience, we do not recommend this accommodation, but everyone should decide for themselves.

The worst experience i’ve have ever had! Rough administrators who don't settle you even if you have a paid reservation until you pay some fictional 40 euros for something. They're cheating, we took yogurt from our room, which we took with us after breakfast. A thing was missing from the room that they didn't return to us until we were leaving. They often make fun of you, especially Marco, and behave as if we are unwilling guests. For breakfast, only buns and cupcakes from the store, only sweets. I don't recommend it to anyone!

This was the best welcome we have ever received in any hotel, perfect small hotel with real family feel. Marco and Dominico made us feel very welcome and couldn't have done anymore to make our stay more enjoyable. Marco also offers great daytrips out, we did a couple and couldnt fault them, very knowledgeable and friendly

We stay 4 nights in the hotel. It's an historical building typical for Catania. If you search for new, modern furniture, appliances and lightning, your place is not here but IKEA. Instead , if you want warm people and enjoy the magnificent Sicily, this is your place!

The owner, Mario was abrasive. He resorted to making fun of my name in jest, maybe. He operated in the dark and when I continously asked for light, he choose to further deride my comments. I tripped on a double set of steps several times to get to my room # 7 because they were protrusions from a flat floor and impossible to make out in the dark. Somebody is going to injure themselves really badly one day. Large room was average in decor. Missing plugs and floor mats in the bathrom - another hazard. Breakfast was carb heavy - not a sight of a piece of protein.

When I came to Etnea 316, I was asked to pay for the stay, even though I thought I had paid in advance. I assumed that I must have remembered wrong, and paid. However, upon speaking to my travel agent, it turned out that I had now paid twice. My travel agent contacted Etnea several times for them to refund what I had paid too much (almost 300 euros). They responded a few times saying "WE ARE CHECKING AND LET YOU KNOW", "EVERYTHING IT'S OK", etc., and then they stopped replying. Now I haven't heard from them for over a year, and of course, I haven't gotten my money back either. Transparency note: I visited Etnea in 2022, not 2023, but that's apparently not an option on tripadvisor.

We should have know that the relatively low cost of this Hotel would be a sign of how bad the room was. First of all, it was very stuffy in the room, needed to turn on the air conditioner (it was 78 degrees out) and the manager told us it was not hot enough out to turn in on. Ok, so we opened the window in the room; BUT there is a very large sign on the closet door that they have a VERY BAD MOSQUITO PROBLEM there and to keep the window closed at all times. We did open the window for about 20 minutes and got bitten repeatedly. The bathroom shower did not drain well and although I am 165 lb man, pretty lean, I could barely fit in the tiny shower. The towels were like paper towels, super thin. No shampoo or soap or anything. We arrived about 2 hours before the time we said we would be there and the man who greeted us was very rude and seemed put off that we were early.. too bad. the manager we finally met was very nice, but that's the only positive about this place

Stay away from hotel Etnea316 in Catania 1- On May 03, 2023 a 3 night reservation for 280 Euros was made with my credit card for two people, myself and my wife Liz . This reservation was made due to a LATE CHECK-IN facility at the hotel, as our flight was scheduled to arrive at midnight on May 30. 2- On May 25, I received an e-mail from the hotel cancelling the reservation due to credit card irregularities. I turned to the card issuer, who did not report any abnormality. I contested the charge with the credit card, and it was reversed. 3- I went back to the Hotel, which said it could not accept the card, that the reservation had already been rescheduled, but that I would have a room for two nights for 250 Euros, therefore more expensive than the original, with the condition that payment would have to be in cash, CASH. 4 - Prompted by urgency, I accepted this demand. When I arrived at the hotel, I was pressured to pay in cash immediately, which I did, but the receipt was never presented. 5- During the short stay, we were treated with rudeness and inattention. Until the day we checked out, we were almost thrown out of the room with punches on the door and invasion of the room, just because it was already 10 am, checkout time. I am 76 years old and I have never been treated this way. 6- My wife felt insulted and posted a negative review on TRIP-ADVISOR on June 15, which was answered with disdain. The next day, two weeks after our stay, the hotel issued a charge of 250 Euros on the same card rejected by them earlier, with no corresponding service to be paid for. 7- I do not know the name of the employee who attended to us, I believe it could be Stefano or Carlo.
